We have established that some of M*A*S*H - especially the later episodes - can be construed as preachy. Might I red flag Scrubs? I thought it was hilarious, but there was quite a lot of soul searching in it. IMO that is.

I think several of the TV shows, particularly dramas, from the 1970s went that way, even family shows like Little House on the Prairie and the Waltons.

Designing Women. Started as sassy southern ladies making their way, but as the 92 election rolled around every episode contained a little bit (and by "little bit," I mean "a lot") of political tirades. DW and I stopped watching, and I think we weren't the only ones because they didn't last long after that.

The 70s & 80s shows were preachy because the parents couldn't be bothered raising Gen X and I suppose the Networks thought they could help and I guess they did in the end. Facts of Life, Growing Pains, Good Times, Gimme a Break and all talked to me way more often than any adult ever did, I guess it's a good thing they were there.

Not a series, but I would add all of the late-night shows to this list. Carson, Letterman, Conan, they were great. Yes, they told political satire jokes but slammed both sides equally and didn't have an agenda. Not any of the shows these days.
