Now, I'm not especially a girly girl, so I wondered about everyone else's prep for the big day, to give me some inspiration to make an effort :rotfl:
Tell me what products and potions you've been swearing by, any diet/lifestyle changes, and any other tips and beauty secrets to get you looking fabulous!

I just started NutriSystems last week and I am hoping to lose about 15 pounds between now and the wedding. I wish I had started earlier, but whatever I lose will be great. I really want to start working out also but I HATE doing that but I really want to start.

I have also started doing some teethwhitening. I bought the Crest White Strips and also rinsing with a whitening mouthwash (I got my DF to do this also).

I use all Clinique items but have been more deligent with using the undereye cream for the past few weeks and I really think the lines under my eyes are a little less.

When we were down in WDW the end of May for our planning session I had a hair and makeup trial. I want to wear my hair up so I am letting my layers grow out a little so there is more hair to put up.

I really should do something with my nails. I have been wearing acrylic for years so my nails are not in the best shape. I would love to have natural nails for my wedding but I'm not sure if I can let them grow out.

Thats all I can think of for now. Looking forward to seeing what everyone else is doing.

To tone up I say do some Pilates...I did the Mary Windsor Pilates. I did them everyday for a month before the wedding..at the end of the month I had to cut it down to 3 times a week because I was losing to many inches..when I went for my last fitting my seamstress yelled at me lol because she had to take it in more on my chest.

Eat plenty of fruits and veggies and drink water..your skin will glow.

Lynn, that is so great that you did Pilates. I really do not like to exercise but I really should do something. Did you use a video tape at home?

Great thread!

BF and I have been doing SouthBeach for about 2.5 months now. I have lost 12 pounds (just what I wanted to) and he has lost a little more than 30 pounds. We both feel loads better!

Do the Crest Whitestrips work? My teeth could be slightly whiter.

Also, does anyone know what to do about bags under your eyes. I have ALWAYS had them, no matter how much sleep I get!?!

I ride horses to work out, and it does wonders for my legs, arms, and stomach.

I know I need to drink more water, but blech!

Can't wait to hear tips from everyone else! :wizard:

I think I will order the Super Sculpting workout and give it a try.

My dress came in two weeks ago and I tried it on and it fits like a glove - no alterations needed BUT I really would like to lose a bit. My fitting is the beginning of October so I have a little over two months to do something about it. It will be worth it to have to pay for alterations if I lose some weight and inches.

Thanks,
Linda

You will love it Linda!!!!! It really is great. Start with the 20 min workout..do that for like a week or until you feel strong enough then go onto the accelerated. You are going to love the results!!!!

Let me know how you make out!

I did get my teeth fixed up. When I saw the pictures from my bridal shower I was not happy with all the silver fillings you could see. My dentist told me to try the Crest White Strips. That worked great so he didn't have to bleach them. Then he replaced all the silver with bonding material to match my teeth. Between the bonding and the White Strips, my teeth looked perfect!

Two days before the wedding I got a pedicure, manicure (no color, I did that myself the morning of the wedding), and a massage. I never get manicures; I normally do my nails myself, and I rarely get pedicures or massages, but it was nice and very relaxing! I also got waxed, but I do that regularly anyway. Several weeks before the wedding I started using lotion every day so my skin would be softer. I should start that again. I've gotten very slack in the last 3 years :rotfl:

I did my own make-up for the wedding because neither DH nor I like a lot of make-up and when I've gotten it done by professionals they put way too much on - yuck! I bought Estee Lauder Beautiful Bride Photo Perfect Powder and that kept away any shine on my face. I don't recommend a facial too soon before the wedding because some facials make you break out and you don't want that!

I think a bride should look like herself on her wedding day, just a bit better. I'm sure you'll look fabulous!

I've heard mixed reviews on the Crest Whitestrips, is it best to speak to my dentist first, or are they likely just to suggest some stupidly expensive system instead just to get more money out of me?

Does anyone use any specific face creams or anything like that? My skin isn't bad, but I too suffer from the baggy eye syndrome a bit I think!

I might have to make the effort to do some sit ups and press ups to tone up my tummy and arms, I bought a Wii Fit a few months back also, which is now gathering dust already, so I might try and rediscover that!

I'm planning on getting nail extensions done as I am just hopeless at trying to grow my own out, I just can't decide whether to get them done here before I leave (and run the risk of breaking etc. during travel and the first few days of our holiday) or getting them done on arrival, (most likely at Perriwigs at the Y&B Club for convienience, but then this eats into "disney time" - for me this manicuring lark is not a holiday treat like it would be for some, it's almost a chore :lmao:)
I think it may have been Carrie that posted Perriwig's pricing list at some point, but I can't find it anywhere now, so Carrie, if you're out there, please could you find this again for me??:worship:

I think I'll start things at 12 months out with the best of intentions, that just leaves 2 full months now to be lazy! ;)

Don't forget sunscreen if you're out and about before your wedding! You don't want a burn or tan lines ruining all your hard work!

As for me, I was in school (student teaching) as well as working full time right up until the week before my wedding. I didn't do much of anything, I'm afraid. I would have loved to have dropped a bit of weight, but my days were literally from 6:30 am until 11 pm, and then I worked on Saturdays. So he got me just as I was.

But seriously, congrats the people who were able to loose weight prior to their big day. It isn't an easy thing to do and you should be really proud. :cheer2:

As to beauty regimes... one word: electrolysis! It's the only completely permanent method of hair removal and it's been around for more than 100 years. And that's all I'll say about that before I get TMI... :rotfl:

Also, re: eyebags - unfortunately, these are genetic. They say if you avoid caffeine and drink lots of water it could help, but the only permanent solution I've found is Photoshop, and lots of it! :rotfl2:

I'm on Jenny Craig and have lost 29 pounds, so about 21 more to go before I hit my goal weight of what I wanted before my wedding. I'm also doing facials once a month. I'm drinking a ton of water each day. I'm also growing my hair out and taking care of my nails so they'll look good with just a polish.

I started getting a monthly facial about 6 months before the wedding and got the last one a week before the wedding day. I also my nails done twice before leaving and had a clear coat put on while having my wedding make up done.

Well I did the obvious- healthy diet, drink water, workout( whish I started this earlier but I was in my thesis semster at school and it was not so easy with always pulling all nighters).

I also used crest white strips. I also exfoliated my skin with a great product from Philosphy- microdermabrasion it is called which helped even the skin tone. I used a great moisturizer 2 times daily (with sunscreen) as well as an antioxidant spray. For under my eyes I used philosphy products (2 together 2x a day) I believe and hope in a tube. I love the whole regimen so much I still do it a year after the wedding.

They day before the wedding I had a mani, pedi and a massage does wonders to relax you!

Really the best thing a bride can do is just not worry because that day will be the happiest day and you will just glow from the inside out!

Thanks for this Carrie, so strike 2 against Disney is that it'd be more expensive to get them done there!
Do you think my nails will survive the trip if I get them done at home? I only want them relatively short and I could get everyone else to carry my luggage for me! ;)

I guess it depends on your dentist. Mine said to try the White Strips before he would bleach them because mine weren't that bad and the White Strips are MUCH less expensive than what he would do. I do have one very sensitive tooth so I had to cut the strips a little shorter to avoid that tooth, but otherwise they were fine. They do feel a little weird in your mouth and they don't taste great, but they're not in there for that long. I just put them in and watched TV until the time was up. It was worth it as my teeth looked great! I really need to do it again . . .

Like Carrie said, Photoshop is your friend  My MOH, my niece, I love her to pieces but she had some yellow teeth in our pictures. I fixed that right up in Photoshop! My BFF had a nasty blemish on her face and she was freaking out about it - gone in Photoshop!

Well, To address the baggy eyes, I use The bodyshop's vitamin E eye cream. I smile constantly which is great for my soul but RUINS my eye area. THIS stuff works wonders. i put it in my fridge (for some reason) and use it EVERYDAY x2. If I stop for some reason I see an almost immediate decline in my eye area. It's 17.00 a tube too which is MUCH cheaper than lancome, estee, etc. Best of luck!!!!!!!!!!!:goodvibes

I Use plus white with the tray for my teeth and my dentist says I'm a "plus1" on the scale (thanks to the stuff). It is great if you can stand the mess....AND you will get results right away. It's really good for a last ditch effort where strips take weeks.;)
