weve been thinking of getting the pre tsa --even though weve been lucky and just get it randomly

anyways we leave on disney cruise in 5 weeks would we even have a chance of getting by then

not to mention the global which Im not even too sure what thats even about (not to sound too stupid--)does this speed things up when going out of the country

thanks all

Global entry is to speed getting back into the US from abroad. It works at some cruise terminals (not Port Canaveral) as well as most major international airports. It also comes with pre-check for air travel.

If you already paid for pre-check and don't leave the country often just stick with that as you don't get a credit towards global entry if you did pre-check first. Getting global entry in 5 weeks can be hard depending on where you live. Getting pre-check should not take that long most people get it with in 2 to 3 weeks after their appointment to turn in documents.

I went to my pre-check appointment on a Monday and had my number by Friday. That was about two weeks ago. It was super fast.

1) Does it work out of Port Everglades?

2) Is it feasible to get Global Entry in two months?

Trying to convince my husband to get st less than pre-check. We cruise in late October (out of Port Canaveral) and again in April (out of Port Everglades).

I got my number the next day after my appointment. I went online and added my KTN to my ticket. Everyone in our family has a KTN and my 12 year old granddaughter will get hers in march when she turns 13. I too used to get it free all the time, but my husband got it randomly, so we signed up 2 years ago. Best $$ we've spent....no regrets.

I got it done in under a month but it takes constant checking the site once conditionally approved for an appointment and being able to take any appointment that works. With global you get your ability to use global entry at pre-check at the interview but don't get the card for land use until 2 weeks later. Haven't used it for cruising yet only returning by air which uses the passport not card.

Global Entry appointments tend to be a much harder to get, but wait times vary greatly depending on your airport.

You have to wait for the card, but you don't need the card for pre or to use GE when arriving by air.

Both of my daughter's and spouses did a walk in appt. little to no wait. My husband and I were over an hour late (traffic issues) when we went for our appt. they still took us.... guess it depends on your area. We live outside Washington DC. I got my number in 24 hours, (former USG). The rest got their numbers within a few days later.

How long between applying and getting the appt?
Not the PP but our PreCheck processing location can take walk in's and you can book same day appointments (they use a 3rd party contractor here)
We also got our number within 48 hours of applying and getting our fingerprint process completed

Certain airports are really backed up for appointments. San Francisco is up to a 6 month wait for an appointment. Nice thing though, is that you don't have to go to your home airport. If you are traveling beforehand, and the airport in, say, Denver, has an appointment, you can do it there.
