I just finalized my flight plans with Southwest (got a DING fair on the way back), for a total of $120 round trip including taxes -- not too bad considering every other airline was over $160.
I'm a 24-year old single guy; my last time at Disney was last year with my family -- we stayed with my sister for a week since she lives 30 minutes away. I was supposed to go on a road trip with friends this summer, but things came up and the plans fells through. I decided that I could use a vacation, whether I had anyone to go with or not since I have the extra money and 'you only live once.' I started thinking that a vacation to WDW would be nice, and wanted to try an on-site resort for the first time.
So a couple months ago I started researching a trip to WDW... I saw the free dining plan come and go -- I figured if I was going solo I would not use all the TS credits. I almost got AKL for $135 a night during the summer sale, but ultimately passed since the dates I wanted became unavailable the next day. I was tempted to go with POP due to the great rates, but I wound up renting a 5-night stay at the Boardwalk Inn from a DVC member, for a bit of a premium over the $10 a point 'going rate. I usually am pretty frugal but decided to splurge given what I have heard about this resort and since it is usually one of the first DVC resorts to fill up with reservations. Disney was charging $1750 for this reservation, I got it for over a grand less.
So now I am less than a month away and can't wait to go. The first three nights I will be staying with my sister and we will check out Universal and see their Halloween Horror Nights event, the rest I will be at the Boardwalk and she'll meet me at least a couple of the days. I am planning to do at least one of the tours, maybe two. The Segway one I want to go, and the Keys to the Kingdom tour would be nice also.
Since this will be my first stay at an on-site resort I am looking forward to that aspect a lot... I can walk to MGM or Epcot or just stroll around the Boardwalk. Maybe visit the bakery or get room service late at night... It'll just be nice to be that close to the parks. I'm thinking I should take my sister to at least one nice table service restaurant... Maybe 'Ohana or California Grill.
Just 27 more days...
