Hi everyone here goes my attempts at a trip report I should tell you from JUNE 12 to JUNE 15 my reports will be about the journey we took to attend a Wedding in Bowling Green Kentucky - The Disney part was a surprise to my kids !
Date June 12
Cast = Me - 32 Is a Disney Geek according to Friends and Family
Megan - 9.5 Need I say more , Doesn't like thrill rides very much.
Kyle - 6.5 Easy going kid most of the time - LOVES thrill rides
Well our flight on Southwest is at 9:10 today we should get to airport at around 7 -7:30 so we must leave home at 5 am UGH that means get up at 3:30 - 4 am ( ok so it really was 4:45 when I did get out of bed ) Kids get up fairly well cause they are excited to be going to Kentucky for the wedding. My Sister Drives us to the airport uneventfully - thankfully . she pretty much drops us and runs around 7:30 am! we wait 2 mins in the curbside check in line and the skycap gets all our bags and the booster ready for the labels and says as we are walking into the terminal " I will make sure all 5 peices of luggage get to Orlando for you " I say " thanks" and Megan - who misses nothing is looking at me oddly..
she says "Momma he said our bags are going to Orlando , why would our bags be going to Orlando, I thought we were going to Kentucky for the wedding " after repeating this several times she looks at me oddly again as I have said nothing but am just smiling like a Geek she says "are we going to DISNEY " I grin bigger - if that is possible - and then she grabs her brother who has been very quiet up till now and say to him "YES we are going to disney in the summer !!" So now I admit Yes we are having a Disney Vacation but first we must drive to the wedding and then drive back for vacation Ok ? SURE why not ..
We get the A Boarding passes and they load us in Its pretty full but we do get a row of 3 seats together and settle in for the 3 hour tour oh I mean flight . Pretty uneventfully a few rough spots of tourbulance nothing really white knuckle however.
Arrival to MCO on time 12 noon - I have never flown into this airport ( always has been Tampa ) pretty nice - Very big but lots of signs to get you where you need to be . Get to luggage carousel just as they are releasing luggage - all 5 have arrived safe. Now off to National counter. ALAMO has this extemely huge line 15 or more people waiting 3 clerks, I am the only person at the National counter -1 clerk - I get my car with the Disney Club Discount and coupon rate and am sent across the street to the garage to pick my mid size car - they are gallants (sp) Nice Driving cars .. Time is now about 1:15
I get my yahoo.map directions out as we are driving to Chattanooga Tn tonight to stay with a friend. I get immediately lost - missed the sign for 528 DUH back track and find it Ok now directions say something to the effect of turning by the turnpike but don't state to get on so we don't - oh no LOST again - go back and get on the turnpike Yea we are now where we need to be looking for the I-75 signs !! We find that easily ! rest of my directions are very good.. we are doing good now but are a bit behind - we stop for lunch at Cracker Barrell - very good Me BBQ Bacon Burger, Megan Chick fingers and FF, Kyle Grilled Cheese and chocolate milk- and ask about a Wal-mart they give us direction but its raining so hard we miss the road !! UGH not again but then in backtracking we find it get some Goodies and drinks for the road and are back on I-75 pretty quick . Kids are having a good time - Backpacks were loaded with things to do, gameboys w/new games, coloring books, reading books, ect.. well we have stopped at some rest areas for potty breaks and around 7:00 Kyle says my belly doesn't feel good then he pukes all over himself and the seat.. I pull right off at the next exit into a gas station - we are in GA someplace - They give us Paper Towels and we get it all cleaned .. He is upset cause he got his Blanket and new Stitch baby .. Sorry buddy they are double bagged in the trunk.. Meg wants dinner we hit Mc'D and she gets a kids meal and I get Kyle Gatoraide.. by 9:30 he is throwing that up .. OK we need to stop for the night So We stop in Bryon GA at a Best Western - the sign said indoor pool . I pay 65 for the room and off we go have 20 mins till the pool closes. we change into suits and swim - I call my friend in TN to say we are not making it as Kyle is car sick..Ok we will try to get to you in the Am .. as we are getting ready for bed Megan says there are ants under her pillow , I am tired and don't see them - did see 2 little ones on the head board and a dead fly in the bathroom behind the door. Oh well we are all out in 5 mins.. Day 2 - Finish the Drive !
Thanks for reading , I should note we spent about $4.00 or more in Tolls in Fl trying to get to I-75 and that we hit 4 HUGE downpours I decided that i didn't like those very much driving - didn't seem to bother the truckers at all however.. Michelle
