The Cast:

Me, 33 years old, single, no kids and still loves going to Disneyland with her folks. :thumbsup2

Mom, Disney fan from way back, is not so excited about going this year but only because she has had such a busy few months. :guilty:

Dad, just likes to get away. I have converted him a bit though. He used to just say that he enjoyed it when we were together, but since he found Soarin Over California, he loves Disney a whole lot more. ;)

The Plans: The trip planning began a year ago. Upon purchasing tickets for our Nov. 2005 trip, we decided to get a Southern Cal Annual Pass. I figured that since it was only $14 more than a 2 day hopper, I would save money if I went just one more time in the year. As I write this, it was a great plan. I hope it turns out that way! We are planning to be on the road around 7:30, hopefully getting to the hotel by 11:30, Disneyland at 12:30.

The Gathering of Goods: I really can’t express how badly my feet feel after about an hour in the parks. I get blisters as soon as I walk through the gates and they only multiply over the course of the day. This year, I have tried to be as proactive as possible. I bought new sneakers that are nicely worn in. I ordered coolmax socks that turned out to be really ugly and at this point uncomfortable so the jury is out whether I will wear them. I bought Body Glide, and I have moleskin as well. I also ordered some Crocs but I don’t think I will have them in time and if they would be comfortable for me anyway. Aside from blister protection I also found a really cute Tinkerbell messenger bag at Mervyns for ½ price! This will hold all my necessities for a day in the park.

The Discussions: We almost didn’t get to go on this trip this year. Or I should say my parents almost didn’t get to go as I would have gone alone. My mom started a new job and has had to take classes and work extremely long hours. This led to much whining on my part which isn’t attractive at all. I think I used the phrase “But I bought a Tinkerbell bag. . .” a few too many times. :rolleyes1 I also pleaded to my mom’s idea of fun: Shopping. “We’ll have lots of time to go to Downtown Disney! We can go to Build A Bear! You need to get your annual Christmas Ornament!” It worked, she’s going. :cool1:

The Rain Threat: So, last week I checked Weather.com and saw that it might rain on Wednesday. This wouldn’t have been pleasant but not a disaster. After all we are veterans of the Japan Pavilion Torrential of 2004 (I’m sure it happens several times every year, but we are still talking about it). Anyway, mom suggested that we bring our ponchos. Not a bad idea right? Except, these ponchos are from our first trip to WDW in 1990 and have Dick Tracy on the back. I am not, no way, wearing a Dick Tracy poncho. :sad2: I’ll just buy a new one thank you very much. Besides, weather.com doesn’t show rain at this point.

The Goals: Every time I go to a Disney park, I set one or two goals for myself, usually to try something new. This year my goals are simple. I will finally try a Dole Whip. After hearing so much about it, I just can’t deny myself any longer. I’ll let you know how it is. My second goal is to ride the Monster’s Inc. ride. This is a no-brainer because it wasn’t quite open when we were there last year.

That’s it for now! I’ll report back as soon as I am home!

Hope y'all have a wonderful trip! Can't wait to hear all about it!
