Pre-Trip Fun -Ideas for a Countdown Calendar or Presents

My husband thinks I have lost my disney lovin mind but I loved our disney trips as a kid and financially I know we won't be able to take our kids to often so I want to make this as special as I can. We aren't going till September and I am already thinking about it all the time and I am not a Planner at all. I want to do a calendar, some sort of advent countdown before the trip? Any ideas? I am not going to tell our kids exactly when we are leaving but my now 4 year old son knows it will be "around" his birthday (we leave 2 days after his 5th birthday). He tells people all the time. I will have a 5 year old boy, 3 year old princess lovin girl and a 17 month old girl. Any ideas for special pre-trip fun?

sign up for the fairy godmailer post cards .....my DD got a few postcards prior to our trip that were from the characters & my GFs would write.."cant wait to see you in december" & stuff like that
