DM - me - the Mom - loves Disney - have made my children Disney nuts
DD - darling daughter turned 16 this week - special trip for her
DS - lovable son - happy is sister loves Disney so much - he gets a trip
DF - my father lives in St. Petersburg - happy to have us come to FL
DH - grouchy husband - tolerates Disney because the rest of us love it

When did it all start... well back in May of 2005 after returning from 10 glorious days with the mouse DD and I felt the need for a special trip - after all she was turning 16 - so we planned a girls trip to Paris France in July... very special - had a great time... on the very long flight back my DD told me that I was the best mom in the world - (little did I know but she was plotting her next move) and tells me that the trip to Paris was wonderful - but her favorite trip of all is to WDW. After many hugs and great bonding time I thought to myself - I should suprise her with a quick trip for her birthday.

Fast forward to August - I happen to be on the internet and what pops up but a great deal on flights from Syracuse to Orlando... so I run up stairs to the DH and say " Hey do you mind if I take the kids to Florida in November to spend some time with my dad for a few days - they are off of school - he says - go ahead - but its hunting season so I won't be going." Mind you I said Florida - at no time did I say Disney or St. Petersburg- yes you might think I was trying to pull a fast one on him - is it my fault he thought we were going to St. Pete's - I just didn't correct him. He really doesn't like to be corrected. So I call DF and tell him the plans and he says he would love to come to Disney with us. I call the SOG and get rooms for the 3 nights....

To recap - DH thinks I am taking the kids to see DF - incorrectly ASSUMES it is St. Petersburg,
DF knows its a trip to WDW
DM - I know the scoop

Fast forward to October.... tell the kids we are going to see Papa in Florida in November... they are very excited - but each secretly confides in me that they wish we could slip a trip into the WDW for at least one day mom - please....

Oaky I say - but lets keep this a secret from your sister / your brother.....

and not to say from the grouchy DH.

Well it is now birthday week and I realize that I have failed my self as a Disney planner - yes I know that you need ADR to get anything - what am I going to do - well it is time to fill in the kids - after all we leave in a week - Lots of joy all around... we quickly plan our meals and call and get some great reservations....

The big birthday party has arrived and grandparents have arrived from Michigan and Buffalo, NY - and up - you guessed it - the little guy slips and tells them about the surprise trip for his sister and DH hears it all.... lucky for us he loves us and that he saw the emails from the SOG about our reservations... Happily we all talk about the trip and now we are less than 48 hours away...

So being the expereinced Disney planner I should know that we should be packed and ready to go.... not the case - no luggage out, no clothes ready... but not to fear because we will not need much ... for some reason I felt it necessary to check out our flights - knowing we connect in Washington-Dulles I wanted to see if the arriving and departing gates were close by - seems that I didn't notice it but when I bought the airline tickets we only have 6 minutes - yup thats right - 6 minutes from arrival to boarding time.... so it will be carryon luggage for us - and sneakers becasue I think we shall be running thru the airport....

As it stands -

Everyone now knows about the trip
We have not packed
And we have 6 minutes to connect to our flight...

can't wait to get there!!!!! :cool1: :cool1:

now you know you need roller skates besides the sneakers.......we had a fast connecting once and found out later it was two feet from one door to the next door....hope it is the case for you......fingers crossed....have fun too
