anyone else besides me get this before a big trip? It starts about 2 weeks before for me and builds as the departure gets closer.
We leave tomorrow for the airport and have a 4 hour drive plus we have to use a private long term lot and depend on them for a shuttle to and from the terminal. I am near panic right now worried that some thing will go wrong to cause us to miss the flight or we will forget a key item to bring.

I don't know why this happens to me but I doubt I will get any sleep until I get on the plane.once I am on the plane I return to normal and relax again.
Perhaps it's due to us not flying a lot and aren't super familiar with the airports and the whole checking in process.it's been 3 years since our last flight.

It's going to be wonderful. Have you packed your phone? Phone charger? Credit cards/debit cards/cash? Have the correct photo ID to board the plane? Any prescription meds? Small children?

If you have all of that, then you're good. If you forget something crucial, then you can probably replace it once you reach your destination.

But to answer your question, I still have pre-trip jitters. I have now renamed it pre-trip excitement. :-)

Hope you have a great time!!!

I would be nervous about a 4 hour drive to the airport, too. Any chance you can stay in a nearby hotel the night before? If not, I'd probably leave 6 hours for the 4 hour drive.

I always make a list of what to pack, and one for what I want on the plane with me. Plane things are my nook, my phone, all my chargers and cords for all electronics (in a ziplock bag), any reservation papers, some snacks, and one change of clothes. If I plan on going to the parks I also include a TSA sized bottle of sunscreen, and my park bag.

I find lists to be a huge help, and they also cut down on the stress. I cross things off as I pack them.

A hotel just wasn't possible this time. The problem is we are flying out of LAX and LA traffic can be horrific. I am giving us 8 hours time to make the drive just in case.we can hang out at the airport and people watch.

Thank you!

I get stressed out about getting there too, but I forget it all as soon as I'm though security at the airport! And like a PP mentioned, there's very little that you can't replace on the trip if you forget it.

I always remind myself that as long as I've got my credit card and passport/NEXUS (I usually flying internationally, but I'm also a non-resident alien (yes, I'm amused by my title) in the US, so tend to fly with my passport anyway), little else is critical. Of course, I check for those numerous times before and during travel (you never know, the last time I checked I may have not put it away properly :) ).

Well we made to the airport. We left at 11 am and just now got to the terminal. The drive took 5 hours...the 405 freeway was a parking lot!
Now the wait begins at least I can finally relax.
4 hours until our flight.whats a good way to kill time in an airport? We are through security already.

Safe travels and have a MAHVELOUS vacation :)

FWIW - we have a 15 minute drive to the airport, and I always leave about 4 hours early. We LOVE being there, people watching, etc. And, I worry, too, about delays (Not too many options for crossing the river!).

I get super nervous energy about 2 weeks out - not anxious or scared or anything. Just jumpy :)
