We're relatively new to this, after having "leeched" off my parents' OKW availability for years. Now after deciding at 45 that maybe we should get our own membership, we joined in February for OKW also (couldn't talk my wife into BLT).
Anyway, my kids, trying to get full use out of this, want to go the week before school starts. This would be the Labor Day weekend. We usually go before/during the Thanksgiving holiday. How is the park, and site availability on the Labor Day weekend? I haven't confirmed I can get off that 5 days, but will start this next week.
Thanks for the help.

we have gone this time--it's fun, but realize it's VERY hot, prone to downpours that can last for hours, and it's free dining, so make sure you have any TS dining reservations made WAY in advance. We had a blast--just be prepared to do parks in the AM, in case you get rain in the afternoon. HAve fun. Elaine

Had friends who went labor day weekend '09 and loved it so much are going back for this coming labor day weekend. Although it was hot they were sooooo pleased with the low crowd levels!!

Yes, very low crowds...generally very high temps! Our favorite time is October. We do food and wine and generally low crowds, especially first two weeks of oct. We have a girl in second grade and usually pull her out of school for a few days (okay, sometimes a week) for a Disney trip every year. It's worth it to us to really enjoy our favorite things, great weather, and an overall much more pleasant experience.

we've gone this time of year for the past 4 years. Yes, its hot. I am not a fan of hot weather, but I am somehow able to tolerate it - maybe being in WDW trumps my dislike for hot weather.

We have been lucky and not been rained out (in fact I cant think of EVER being rained out in all my trips to WDW - I hope I did not just jinx myself).

Crowds are fairly reasonable this time of year. On Labor Day weekend its a little busy - but in the weekdays before or after - it can be a ghost town.... last year it was exceptionally dead (maybe the economy).

Enjoy it down there... and see u there!

Agreed about the crowds AND the weather! We vowed last time we did Labor Day weekend to NEVER do it again. It was just too hot, humid, and rainy for us to truely enjoy it.

we used to go the last week of aug thru labor day every year...
as others have said it is hot and humid - dh is much less heat tolerant than me, so he tended to do the shop hop (running into a shop for some AC). there are (approx) 4PM daily rain showers, lasting about an hour.

BUT the crowds are notably lower than july and early aug, and the parks get wonderfully quieter after labor day.

imho, if you are tied into a school schedule, that time is one of the best to visit.

We go for labor Day every year, but we're Floridians and used to the heat and humidity. Not that it makes it any easier, mind you. Like everyone has said, the weekend itself can get pretty crowded, but the days leading up to and right after are very slow. We love spending Labor Day's there!
