Can someone tell me the process for checking in for an ADR for Tusker House before rope drop?

Do you need to bring a copy of the ADR Email? Or is there a list by name?

Are you escorted to the restaurant? Is there time to get some pictures with no crowds on the walk?

If we are done with Breakfast before rope drop do you have to walk back to the Oasis or can we walk over to the KS or EE?

Thanks for the insight.

When we arrived at the gate they had our name on a list. I did not need the ADR#. They let us in and we slowly wandered towards Africa. Stopped for pics and a CM even took a group shot for us with the Tree of Life and us on (empty) bridge. They are the best pics!

Our ADR was for 8:20 and we arrived at 8ish. We had the best time and the food/characters were awesome!

I brought the confirmation number, I don't remember if they asked for it or went by our name. They gathered a bunch of the Tusker House ADR folks at the entrance and walked us in a group to the restaurant. We did not stop and take pictures. I think you could maybe if you wanted to but they won't wait for you and then you will be last to check in of the group.

Everyone lined up to check in when we arrived, some people were a little pushy but it wasn't bad. We were seated in order of check in, not ADR time although I suppose we were all within 15 minutes or so of each other I assume. We had our picture taken with Donald and were seated within minutes.

We finished just about 9am and the crowd was already on its way so we just went right onto the safari line.

Oh, lucky you that you got to stop and take pictures. They were actually running behind I think when we went. The lady up front was not allowing anyone in, and another CM came over quite irate and wanted to know why the adr folks were still standing there and ushered us into the park and to the restaurant very quickly. There was also a group of folks waiting to start a tour and we were all just standing around for a while. It did seem odd that we weren't being brought to the Tusker House closer to 7:45am or so, it was just about 8am when we finally walked there.

We were running late (we drove, and the parking lot didn't open until half an hour before our ADR -- by the time we parked, unloaded the strollers, get the kids out, and hoofed it over to TH, we were barely on time), so we didn't get to linger too long.

But they have separate entry line with a list with names, just tell them the name it's booked under, and they'll let you in. (We did print out cards with places, dates, times, and confirmation numbers for all of our ADRs, but never needed them.)

CMs are there to direct you to TH, so you can't go wandering off into other parts of the park, but you can go at your own pace, time permitting.

You do not need a copy of your email BUT I would recommend having your confirmation number. They have a list at the front gate with names but we were actually left off once.

You can stop to take pictures.

Cast Members are stationed to keep you on the right path and away from other parts of the park.

We find going right over to the safari is best because it is right across the way from Tusker.

Have fun!

Wow, now I am curious....in September, we have an 8am ADR there so, I wonder if it was the CMs fault for not letting you in sooner (like 7:45am like you said) or do they wait until 8am to let the ADR guests in. I am wondering this because I don't want to rush while inside just to try and make our ADR because we like to enjoy going to the parks that early and take pictures without the crowds there.

They are supposed to let you in at least 15 minutes before the ADR in order to check-in on time, so you should be able to get in early enough to take pictures. We often take advantage of the 8:05 ADR and we have never been prevented from gaining access 15-20 minutes before 8:00.

When we went last year, they didn't let the ADR people in until after 8:00. I remember saying to DH, "sure am glad I don't have an 8:00 reservation". Fastforward to this coming trip, we have an 8:05 ADR and I hope they let us in in time.

:disrocks: Thanks everyone. . .we have an 8:05 ADR for our September trip. With the ADR's complete now I'm looking for something else to plan! :surfweb:
