Okay,
I keep forgetting to ask this. I was given my BEO...and the itinerary and there was no discussion of a pre-reception. What is a pre-reception and does it shorten the length of your reception?

Thanks,

V

Your pre-reception is your cocktail hour and it does not shorten your reception unless you want it to...for example if you have a 10am ceremony, your pre-reception will start at 11am and ends at noon, your reception starts immediately after and ends at 4:00pm.

Did you choose a pre-reception item? Cheese display? bar?

Also, you don't necessarily need a pre-reception if you won't be leaving your guests to go take pictures with the groom and family directly after the ceremony. It's basically a stall to keep your guests entertained while you disappear (or at least that's how I feel when I'm a wedding guest and counting the moments til dinner! :rotfl:)

No. We didn't choose a preception item. When I asked about having extra time for photos, they just said we need to be at the reception by 11:15. So we are planning many of our photos before it all happens...in the morning (8am).

I don't think it's a big deal..it just seems odd that it was never really mentioned. Maybe it was because at the time of the planning session, we never had a photographer booked.

Thanks for the responses!
Lurkyloo..I pm'd you about your bouquet!
