Ok, I want to have something nice and light (and cheap!) for my pre-reception, as we are having loads of food for the main course. What did you guys have?

We had the cheese display and it was perfect. The cheese were really good (and high-quality...I had one a few days later at Cali Grill). It was enough to keep people from starving till the plated dinner was served. Everyone said we had too much food, so I don't think anyone was complaining about skimpy hors d'oeuvres!

we had fruit display it was $7.25 per person and came with a dip. it was lovely

We did the antipasto display which had a little of everything on it and it was fantastic!

Has anyone had a morning wedding and had Breakfast Pastry's?? Our wedding is at 10am and our pre-reception is at 10:30-11:30 and we chose to have Breakfast Pastry's ( Danish, muffins and Croissants) and Cinnamon Rolls.

We are having about 40 people (5 kids) at our wedding and they have us buying 7 dozen Pastry's and 3 dozen Cinnamon Rolls... Thats 120 Pastry/cinnamon rolls.... Will 40 people eat that much?? Most of us will be out taking pictures. I just hate to pay so much for all of it and it does not get ate and dont want them all to get too full before the buffet.. Let me know your thoughts, we are thinking about lowering the amount of pastry's and cinnamon rolls.

thanks

I haven't seen a case where there wasn't enough food, so I think you'd be safe to dial it back a bit. Pastries are filling anyway, and people will know a good meal is coming...so they won't overdo it.
