Pre-Pre Planning for First Solo Trip

I'm thinking of a solo trip this year but wonder is it wise as I'm from ireland so it's a long way to go on my own.
I was thinking if I do go I'd spend one week off site and one week on site prob in POP or one of the All Stars.
I also wonder about how safe an offsite hotel room will be for solo traveller.. I think I'd feel more secure in on site hotel but the off site ones are soooooooo much cheaper plus I'd prob want to go to Wizarding world of Harry Potter again and Seaworld and shopping :)

Just my opinion...but if safety is something you worry about them I would definitely stay onsite at Disney. I stayed at POP and loved it...but the safe feeling even of just getting off the plane and taking Magical Express to the hotel made it feel like as soon as I checked in with Magical Express I was safe in Disney hands. Money is always a concern...but how can you put a price on feeling safe? And I know you can pay for transportation to those other parks at the Disney hotels. But that's just my opinion...I know a lot of people who prefer off site because it is either less expensive or you get a lot more for the money...but on a solo trip I can't imagine staying off property myself. I feel totally safe travelling to Disney alone...but only by doing it onsite and using Magical Express and all that.

And I plan on doing lots of signatures on this trip so Deluxe Dining Plan will work out great for me I think...in fact...can't imagine a trip without it now that I have done it...lol! But it's all about planning, planning, planning...lol!

I am thinking that I may spend half of my splurge money on just staying an extra day. The more I think about it...the more sense it seems to make to me. This will free up even more time for me to take a really relaxing vacation and spend a good amount of time at the resort and at DTD. Still basing it on current prices...but I am booking it as soon at they allow for September 2012. I think more time at Disney is always a worthwhile splurge.
