We Are: Myself, Mother of Lynn and proud Grammie of Wade (just turned 8) and Tyler (just turned 5).
Easter Sunday, 31: The baskets were a big success. The night before, we had seen a live bunny eating in the tall grass on the way to the WL pool, and Lynn wondered if Disney chained up a bunch of bunnies in the grass so the kids would know the Easter bunny would be there. (Somewhat of a cynic). She had bought the bunnies with her, multi-colored and very soft, and I had bought the candy, but I threw in a Mickey at the last minute. This is a Disney Easter, after all. We got to sleep a bit late, since we were going to church at the Contemporary for a 9:00 service. We passed the egg hunt area on the way, and it was packed with kids. Glad we arent going to do that. Tyler still has a fever, but we gave him aspirin and went ahead. Church was rather institutional, being in a large auditorium with canned music. We didnt get out until 10:00 when we hopped on the monorail to Epcot, our destination being Test Track (a promise to Wade). This was my first monorail ride to Epcot. It goes all around the park and then lets you off at the front entrance. Would have been nice if they had put the station at a mid-point between FW and WS to cut down on the walk from WS to the front of the park. We went directly to Test Track, getting there about 10:45. The wait time was posted at 70 minutes and the first available FP was for 4:00. I had promised we could ride this, so Wade & I waited in line for about an hour to get on. While we were in line, they had a breakdown that lasted about 10 minutes or so, so the actual wait would have been about 40 minutes. Its not really bad once you get inside, since theres so much going on in there. I love this ride, especially the test track part at the end. This is a really smooth ride, but this was the only time I felt like my glasses were in danger and kind of held on to them going around the curves. We had done a baby swap, so Wade got to ride again with Lynn.
We went back home after that and had lunch. Started packing up and took a swim. I was really feeling that I had wasted 4 ticket days just doing one ride, so we decided to go back to AK about 5:00 (7:00 closing time). This was the first day Primeval Whirl was open, and I thought it would be fun to be among the first to ride. We stayed in Dinoland for 2 hours, riding the spinny dinosaur ride for Tyler and the Primeval Whirl for Wade (and me). Lynn and Wade rode first, then he and I rode twice. Waiting times were very short this time of evening. We also spend about an hour in the playground, where both kids could have stayed indefinitely going down slides and running through caves and climbing rope ladders. While Lynn & Wade were on the Whirl, half of it was shut down because of mechanical problems and the people on the cars had to be evacuated by ladder. We didnt have any problems, thank goodness. The ride is fun. A round car with places for 4 people on only one side. It takes sharp U-turns that make the car spin at certain points in the ride. Not continuously though, so you dont get dizzy. A couple of drops, but the going around corners while spinning is the most fun. Went back and finished packing up for our early departure Monday morning for the Tampa airport.
