hi,

I am looking to stay at post caneveral the night before we sail - can anyone give any recommendations - one of the most important things to us is a transfer to port (my dd would like a pool too).

Thanks

Hi-

We really like the HYATT that is attached to the airport. It is SO convenient. And surprisingly, very quiet - you won't hear the planes at all. The rooms are nice and they have a nice pool and workout room as well. You can eat in the hotel restaurants or enjoy the airport food court. Also, you can pre-arrange Disney transfers from the airport to Port Canaveral and the Disney bus will pick you up right by baggage claim. It is so simple and so convenient. I hope this helps.:smooth:

We have stayed at the Hyatt right at the airport. It is very convenient...just go from baggage claim right to the front desk. It is a lovely hotel, good service, food was good. If you do Disney transfers, the next morning they pick up your luggage (it will show up in your cabin later that day) and later, you simply go down to where Disney is located and get on the bus. They will take directly to the port. It is very easy and pretty much stress free. There are Disney representative's around who will assist and get you to the right place. I can highly recommend it.

Two years ago, we stayed at the Country Inn and Suites. Very nice, especially if you get the one with the separate kids room - so they have their own bunk bed and TV. No, it wasn't a necessary expense, but our DS got a kick out of having his own space in a hotel room. Lots of other Disney cruisers there, and an outdoor pool and complimentary breakfast. The hotel was well maintained. They had a shuttle, but you had to sign up when you checked in, and the available shuttles left when we got there were too late for our liking. So we called a cab instead, which was inexpensive and more convenient. Next year, we are staying at the Residence Inn by Marriott, just to try something different. Looks like they have the same amenities, including a pool and breakfast, plus a bar / lounge. The rumor is that hotel shuttles cannot arrive at the port prior to 11 AM, so we really don't care much about the shuttle service. We'll take a cab again and get there closer to 10:30. Both of these hotels are very close to the port. I used both hotels.com and trip advisor to read reviews and find the best deals and options. We have also stayed at the Ron Jon Resort (about 5 years ago), which was such fun... but a little too far from the port for us. It's also more of a "time-share" setup, so those units come with kitchenettes. However, the pools and water features were great, and the restaurants on site were good. Lots to hotels to choose from, but it all depends on what is important to you.

We have stayed at the Hyatt at the airport when we have flown in, love it super easy. We did private transfers vs DCL transfers because it was cheaper and honestly very simple. Just walked out of the hotel with our bags and there was our ride! We are now stationed close enough to drive so we are going to stay at Residence Inn, suppose to be super close and has a pool, breakfast etc. we are going to drive and park at the port from there. We once flew in the same day and I vowed never to do that again!

We just stayed at Comfort Inn And Suites Port Canaveral. we have stayed at Country Inn before, but last time they didn't get us to port till closer to 12 and we wanted to get on the ship as fast a possible. this was cheaper too, but for us it was so much nicer because we didn't have a car this time and still wanted to get t the beach. This hotel has a nice pool, beach access, walking distance ( 1 1/2 blocks) to Ron Jon's, Mcdonalds, Ihop, and walgreens, (winn Dixie too, but didn't need to go there). Plus they have a great breakfast included!

For transfer to the port the hotel called and got us a taxi... $20 for all of us, and they sent a suburban, apparently they always send a big car for all of the luggage. The taxi was there 10 min early and it was so nice to get to port when we wanted, rather than relying on the hotel shuttle.

Just a couple questions..... when you take the taxi what time do they get you to the port? and what taxi company are you using?

I have used private transfer companies, unfortunately I don't remember who...I did not use the same one so I just googled..

the hotel called the taxi for us. I think the company was called triple 8 or 888 or something like that. I think we called to have them there at 10:15 and they were there at 10:00, came early. It was perfect!
