Pre pay Baggage - Need Help !!!

We booked Wednesday night our flight and I wanted to pre-pay baggage charge to save money only I can not figure how. Do you have to wait until you check-in (24 hrs ahead) before you pay. Thanks for any help

which airline are you flying?? It varies from airline to airline.

With Continental, you pay for your checked bag at the 24 hour mark, at the same time that you check in for your flight. You cannot do it earlier.
I guess you can do it online up until the time you fly, but I will do mine at the 24 hour mark. Each airline is different.

With DL you pay at the 24 hour mark (when you check in) I know Airtran, US Airways, NW, Frontier, UAL, & AA work this way. I think most airlines work this way. Some may let you pay at booking, but for me I never know what I'll be checking or if I will do carryon only.
