Pre Paid Restaurants Question

So I've booked CRT dinner for November. I paid already as that's required to book it. I do not currently have a dining plan. But I'm curious, do people on the DP have to pay in advance as well to hold their spot?

The reason I'm asking is that I'm considering purchasing a DP and if I do, I would like to use the 2 credits towards CRT. So would they refund my payment? I realize I would probably have to call to get that done, it wouldn't happen automatically online - but I have to go through my DVC renter anyway to add dining.

You'd have to call them and have them refund the payment. They won't do it unless you already have DDP purchased. and some of the phone CMs may not know how to do it. They will still want your credit card number for a guarantee. Worst case scenario, you tell CRT when you arrive that you are paying with dining credits and they will refund you.

I had to prepay last year even though I had the dining plan because the site was not cooperating. They refunded me at the time of my meal.

Thanks for the replies! Frustrating that I may have to wait until the time of my meal. It's close to $400 (Canadian) they are holding for 6 months. But once I add the dining plan, I will call and ask, maybe I'll get lucky.

Last year we booked reservations for Mickey's Backyard BBQ several months prior to paying for our dining plan and we did have to pay in advance. What I was instructed to do (which is how everything ended up working out) was that as soon as I arrived at WDW and got checked in, we could go talk to the concierge and they would refund the CC payment and use the dining plan credits to replace that payment. When we went for the refund, they offered us the choice of refunding directly to the CC or putting it as a credit on our room, so that any room charges would come from that refunded amount first. We had them put the credit on the room and it worked out great for us.

Monday is our ADR day for our next trip and I am going to have to pay in advance for the Spirit of Aloha show, which I am not looking forward to since we are going to be booking a dining plan closer to our arrival date, but that's just the way it goes.

Oh I like the idea of using it as a room credit! We will certainly spend it in souvenirs and non DDP items.

If you ditch the ressie the day of they may recharge your credit card from what I understand or still charge your DDP credits. It's not a 10 dollar out.

I don't want to ditch the ADR, I want to use it. I just want to use DDP credits for it instead of the money I've paid out of pocket already.

My husband and I marvel at the amount of interest Disney is accruing making people prepay up to 6 months in advance. But like a PP said, that's the way it is. I used my dining credits to hold our CRT res and will pay OOP closer to our arrival date, but I did have to prepay for the Wishes Dessert Party. Grrr. :)

You can get them switched over the phone. They charged my card and I called for a refund since I'm on the DDP. It wasn't a problem, it did take a couple minutes though.

When booking online and using the DDP, there is an option to hold the ADR with dining plan credits and no credit card is needed. That is what we did for our CRT adr for our Nov trip. You have to already have the dining plan, so it shows on your MDE and the system will recognize that you have it. If you don't have the DDP yet, the option to hold with DP credits will not show up.
