hi guys, i was just looking online to book our vacation to FW in December. i noticed that the campground has a pre-holiday season. does anyone know why the campground has this slightly higher rating but the resort hotels do not. the pre-holiday price only seems to be applied to the campground?

$$$$$$ RVing has become very popular and the little bit of a price increase is not going to make a difference on people making resies for this special time of the year. Also remember, up NORTH it is most likely MUCH colder.

If you raise it, they will still come and you make a little more $$.

What really irks me about the pre holiday season is that it only penalizes the campers....not even the cabins are included...only the campsites. It seems that Disney is only singling out one small part of their customer base to hit with this extra charge. I'll bet there would be a huge uproar if they tried this with, say, the value resorts. What would be the reaction of those staying at any of the All Stars or at Pop Century if they were the only ones being hit with this pre holiday season? But Disney can get away with it because we campers are such a small percentage of the total guests. And what is even worse than the automatic extra charge due to the pre holiday season (what is it now...$4.00 a night?), but as soon as this pre holiday season came into effect, discounts immediately became much harder to come by for the campsites. That first year of the pre holiday season, I was on the phone as soon as CRO opened on the day the new AP discounts came out. My friend staying in a cabin got an AP discount, but I was told there were NONE for the campsites. I have been seeing red ever since Disney insituted this new season for the campsites. I guess you can tell that this is a sore subject for me and one of my worst pet peeves. :-)

Pre-Holiday season and discounts are both part of the same issue, demand. FW always has among the highest occupance rates of all Disney resorts.

Prices are set by supply and demand. If the demand is high they don't need as many discounts and can even raise the prices as they have done with the pre-holiday season. All we can do is vote with our feet. I always camped the first or second week of December (value season) but once the created pre-holiday Inolw usually cam in January, staying in value.

If demand goes down then discount will increase and pre-holiday may go away. But, as popular as FW is I doubt it....

wow i love the website you included at the end of your post. the information was incredible. and i haven't been able to find a map of FW anywhere else! thank you! i realize that the pre-holiday price is still a bargain, i just didn't understand why the resort hotels don't try this too. i'm glad they don't....lol. it just seemed weird to me. i've already paid $50 a nite other places to camp at full-hookups and those places were nothing compared to disneyworld.

thanks again for the awesome web link!!

We had reservations last year during that time - called many times and was never able to get a discount, not even AAA. We ended up cancelling and staying at ASSp.

This is the 2nd year of the "pre-holiday" rate. Hate it!! Same here, no real discounts either.

I almost gave up the Fort last December, because it was at rack rate of 40+tax and Pop Century was at $49+tax with AP rate. As much as I love the campground, $9 a night is not worth the extra work of tent camping.

I FINALLY was able to snag a portion of my trip last year at a discount with some fall special I found online. I ended up having three separate reservations and had to book more nights than I needed to get the discount, then dropped the extra nights later.

This year, I finally broke down and got AAA (having four of us driving, was the main reason for AAA) and got my entire week at AAA discount.

With the new ridiculous AP rate reservation rules and nonrefundable deposit, I think I'll just stick with AAA for the campground.
