Pre-holiday pantry challenge

EVERYONE HATED dinner:sick:. I did not think it was that bad:confused3 they just hated the beans and the "salsa had to much onion" ...anyway they better get used to some beans. I have 12 cans of beans to be used:rolleyes1

Apple crisp was very yummy!

Darn, Darn Darn... I bought 2 gallons of milk this am and left them at Dh's work. Also some bread so $8 more.

Well - I made a roast chicken for dinner tonight - was hoping for leftovers for another meal, but it is all gone. I managed to get enough off the poor bird for a sandwich for DHs lunch tomorrow.
I took a package of ground beef/pork combo out of the freezer for lasagna tomorrow. I have the sauce and noodles in the pantry. Just had to buy fresh ricotta and mozarella. I am once again hoping for leftovers. ;)

DH and I got take out. :confused3 DS6 came home from play practice under the weather, DS3 was wiped out front Preschool, DS10 is being fed at play practice, so it just left DH and I. I figured this was just an easy way to get through a busy night and everyone in bed early. Mind you I cannot remember the last time DH and I ordered out during the week, on a MOnday none the less...

Pantry Challenge will begin tomorrow. I have a plan of croack pot beef stew. Meat from the freezer, veggies and such given tous by DMIL.... Ill report back to give the results. :surfweb:

We had shrimp tonight that was probably past it's prime. It wasn't too bad, I cooked it with a little garlic. We also had peas from the freezer and bananas.

Dinner was fettucini alfredo made w/ shrimp from the freezer, only needed to buy 1 ingredient to make it. I have a roast thawing in the fridge that I'll throw in the crockpot tomorrow, along w/ carrots and onion, w/ mashed potatoes on the side. Spent 15$ at store for milk, grapes and some fresh veggies. I really need to sit down and plan out a week at a time, but it seems lately I've been rummaging in the pantry and freezer the night before to plan dinner. The goal is to plan for the rest of the week tom.:thumbsup2

What's with all the shrimp tonight? :goodvibes We had also had shrimp (from the freezer) and parmesan pasta (pantry)

I havent been to the store since last Tuesday and dont plan to go until at least the end of the week when we run out of milk and bread. Hopefully, I wont need much else......oh yeah, dogfood.

tomorrow....either steaks or pork roast from the freezer.

Jumping on the shrimp band wagon.

last Night my mom had shrimp from the freezer with rice and a salad
I had chicken wings form the freezer baked with teryiaki sauce and rice with salad.

Tonight is soup with sandwiches from the frozen ham I will cook today.

I'm in too! We have way too much food in the freezer and pantry. Sunday I cooked up mac and cheese, spaghetti, lentil pie (DS15 is a vegetarian) for the fridge and threw a boiled dinner in the crock pot. We had the boiled dinner last night and son had the vegetarian selection. Lots of food precooked for the week. Would love to hear more cook ahead and crock pot recipies.

As soon as I'm finished here I'm going to go put a beef and broccoli recipe in the crockpot (the broccoli actually gets added later but the rest of the stuff goes in now). That with rice with make up dinner tonight. It's the last football game of my son's season (no playoffs this year :sad2:) so we'll be home for dinner every night again starting tomorrow. Time to get planning into high gear!

I've got some potatoes so I'm thinking a baked potato soup for tomorrow, complete with cheese and crumbled bacon for on top. After that...I don't know.

I'd love to have the recipe for the beef. It sounds great and i love my crockpot.

Last night was all leftovers from the fridge and the hearty crockpot chili that I threw together Sunday.

Tonight we'll use breaded chicken cutlets from the freezer, mozzarella from the fridge and pasta & marinara sauce from the pantry for chicken parmagiana and pasta. DS16 will throw this meal together while DH and I run some errands, and then we'll have a late dinner together.

I am doing baked French Toast. With strawberrys that were getting freezer burned.:rolleyes1 also we are haveing scrambled eggs and home made home fries.... desert left over dinner rolls with strawberrys and left over cool whip..ta da Strawberry short cake:cool1:

for lunch I had cheerios with raspberrys I found in freezer:thumbsup2

Last night we had swedish meatballs over noodles. I have 1/2 a pig in the freezer and an enormous amount of ground pork (who knew :lmao:) so I mixed the pork with beef and made swedish meatballs. Had it over noodles from the pantry, home canned green beans and crescent rolls from the fridge. I bought crescent rolls for a party and didn't end up using them. I have 5 rolls left.

I made a double batch of meatballs so I figured they would be enough for two meals, I guess they were good because everybody ate a ton of them. Dh had a good idea and said to make baked potatoes and we'll put the gravy over the potatoes, eat the leftover swedish meatballs and I'll probably throw a spaghetti squash (garden) into the oven to go with it.
