Pre Disney Trip Movies- Don't Laugh!

OK so we are getting ready for our trip in 5 weeks. I don't usually let my DS (3.5) watch very much TV but I thought in preparation for going to WDW I would pull out all the old Disney classics and have a movie marathon weekend (It is also 106* in the shade today so that helped my decision). What are some of the best old classics that he will see characters of and that can prep him for Disney? I think the more familiar he is with the characters the less he might be frightened when he meets them too. Please weight in on your favorites you watch before you get ready to hit WDW.

The Disney sing a long videos look great!! I'm planning on buying a few in the next few weeks. They have the actual dressed up characters singing a long, withint places at Disney World or Disney Land.....not a cartoon character. This would really get your child ready for the World!

Laugh? I have been showing my son movies for the last 4 -6 months! He is 4, but will be 5 soon. He has always loved the Toy Stories and Cars movie but I have been showing him the others including some of the older ones. He loves Peter Pan. He also really likes the Aladin movies. Last night he watched the Jungle Book, but he didn't like that one as much. I think that, along with the Lion King has a lot more "dark" scenes. I have a DD3 and DD1 so I also have some of the princess movies. He thought they were ok but didn't really like anything to much so far. Too girly for him (plus I think he finds witches scary). We are going in September. Last night I started showing them parts of the travel channel shows on disney (fast forwarding through the boring parts or the parts that give away the magic). I think anything I can do to help make it more familiar will make it more fun. I think my 3 year old is still going to be scared of characters and some of the darker rides but it can't hurt to try.

My DS3 likes Winnie the pooh movies, Lilo and Stitch, Peter Pan, Alice in Wonderland, 101 Dalmations, and the disney sing a longs. He also likes Jungle Book, Cars, and Finding Nemo. We were lucky enough to come across some really old school ones like On Vacation with Mickey Mouse and a wonderful old Chip and Dale movie. The Disney Treasures Collection have a bunch of compilations of cartoons of all the classics like Goofy, Mickey, Donald, and Pluto. Good luck and have fun!

We watch the Disney planning DVD that they send free from their website. It has actual rides, characters and hotel information. My kids love it!!!

Of course we watch Peter pan, Mary Poppins (DDs favorite), Cars etc. but we also watch disney channel 30 min. shows that help to introduce the characters to little ones.

I do let him watch Playhouse Disney a bit so he knows Tigger & Pooh and all the Mickey gang. I just wanted him to learn about the old stuff from when I was little.

I would agree with Sing Along Songs. They have lots of different songs
with a lot of different characters. It's away of seeing a lot of different
characters without having to watch A LOT of movies...although we love
all of the movies!! Some of the Sing Along Song videos were filmed
right in the parks!!!

I know exactly what you mean. For the past couple weeks I've been making my kids watch all the Disney movies. I feel kinda bad cuz i think I turned them into major couch potatoes! I swear to my self though...after our disney trip they r going to watch way less tv. Right now my kids r watching Alice in wonderland:laughing: I want them to be up to date on all the disney characters. I paid alot of money for this trip and they r going to enjoy it and i want them to know and get excited about all the characters. Suprisingly my older son 5 is really into all the movies especially cinderella, which I'm really happy about cuz i boooked a $107 breakfast at the castle! My little guy 2, is a complete Toy story freak. I cant take it anymore! All he wants is toy story. Like i said b4 after this trip...no tv!

My DD (nearly 2) LOVES and I do mean LOVES The Jungle Book. We have to listen to The Bear Necessities ( and the whole soundtrack) quite often (in the car, in the office, etc.)

I've been showing her some other movies recently too. In correlation with attractions at Disney some suggestions are, Dumbo, Snow White, Peter Pan, The Little Mermaid, Monsters Inc., Finding Nemo, Toy Story, Cinderella, Alice in Wonderland, and pretty much anything else that you feel up to. Hope that helps a little:dumbo:

I watch them to get ready for WDW! LOL
DD has a short attention span and can't sit for more than 15 minutes of a movie.
I love the songs in Little Mermaid and Lion King! I'm always quoting the them too. At work, someone has a cat named Fusa, but when she talks about him, I always say "Mufasa, mufasa, mufasa!!"

Just be prepared that they may not like it. :sad1: I got all excited the other day, told Cullen as he had been very good we could have a special treat, and we settled down to watch Cars, I was really looking forward to watching it. He watched 5 mins max then turned to me and said Peppa Pig (an annoying cartoon pig if you don't have it in America) So I turned it off and hubby and I watched it later that night. :upsidedow

We've been preparing this way for a few months. We watched Incredibles, Monsters Inc, A Bug's Life, Peter Pan, Toy Story 1 & 2, Cars, Jungle Book, Brother Bear, Alice in Wonderland, 101 Dalmations, Little Mermaid, HSM 2 and Beauty and the Beast.

We also have long commutes in the morning and night, so we listen to my Disney Classics vol. 2 CD, Camp Rock Soundtrack, HSM 2 Soundtrack and a WDW Songs CD.

I've tried to get my DS to watch Lilo & Stitch and Lady & the Tramp...but no go on those. He loves Lilo & Stitch cartoon, so I don't know why he won't watch it.

Love preparing for a trip and watching some good movies!!!!

DS is 3.5 and has gone many times. I do find it helpful to watch some of the Disney movies...I agree with the sing-along, esp. the one that is the Disneyland fun or whatever it's called. We listen to the park music on CD and have souvenir books similar to one on the link below. These are great because we browse through them at breakfast and talk about what rides we are going to go on etc. Good luck and have fun!

My kids wont watch cars either:confused3 they loose attention with that movie

My kids are watching Swiss Family Robinson right now because I read that watching that movie helps kids enjoy the Swiss Family Treehouse more. I want to have them watch Song of the South, too.
