I ordered a cake and never received confirmation of my order but it had been charged to my credit card which is the only reason I knew it was received.

I always call in amenity orders & pay at the time of the call, then receive an email confirmation. I have never mailed anything in, so cannot speak to that.
That is strange as I always get one. I keep them for my records.Years ago I would fax in the request w/CC info. But for the last number of years I have just called as well. Weird thing is that I have never received an email confirmation. I have ordered a couple of amenities/gifts for our cruise in 8 days and did not get a confirmation. Weird....

I've never had confirmation. Just faxed the order in and wait to see if my cc is charged. My father cruises Princess and they have the same process; I would usually order a bottle of wine for his stateroom. Never got a confirmation. One year I didn't see the charge on the cc and confirmed with my father later that he didn't get anything. So I guess the order just got lost. I've often wished that you could order online rather than faxing or calling and that you'd get a confirmation e-mail. But this seems to be the norm not just on DCL but other cruise lines. A little archaic in this day and age.
