Pre-Colonoscopy Regimen?

Just curious - if you or someone close to you has had a colonoscopy recently and what was required of them a day/week or so before it.

I hear each doctor has a different one. TIA.

dh and I have different Dr's. He was required to start his prep at 4pm, I had to start at 1 the day before.

I got to up unitl 10:00 am the day before, Thin I had to take 2 ducolax an then drink a ton of fluid with Miralax. The Miralax is no problem has had no taste. I hear so many people drinking that go lightly stuff and just about puking it all up. I drank mine with blue gator aid while watching TV, it wasn't a problem what so ever. I was hungry, but no other problems at all.

Nothing solid the whole day before- only broth, non red colored jello etc....then that evening two pills of something and that half gallon of go-lightly...blech.....at least its better than the old prep where the morning before you have it done you have to do 2 enemas!!!!

When I had mine my appt was on a monday morning. On Saturday evening I had to drink 1/2 a bottle of citromag. On sunday I was on a liquid diet and had to drink a full bottle of citromag throughout the day and then take 2 laxatives before bed.

Recently my dh had his also with a different doctor. My primary/family just happened to send me to this one who is a Proctologist (having another issue "H").

He told me no chocolate - not sure if this is due to the "H" problem or the colonoscopy and to drink ONLY WATER FOR THREE WEEKS prior to the colonoscopy. The day before - I need to take 4 dulcolax with two glasses of water at 3pm and again at 4, 5 and 6. Also, only water the day before. No broth, jello, etc. I found it a bit odd too. My dh says to follow what his doctor did - but I am not doing that. I just never heard of anyone following what i was prescribed.

A couple of Dulculax tablets the morning before, followed by a container of Miralax, mixed in with Gatorade. I can't handle large amounts of liquids..makes me sick to my stomach, so this is hard for me. I can't remember exactly how much I had to drink but I just couldn't finish it all.

DH goes in tomorrow, so his prep starts today. For the last week he was told no pain relievers other than Tylenol.

Today, no solid food, only broth/liquids and nothing red or purple in color. He starts drinking his stuff this afternoon, and needs to take an anti-nausea pill before he starts drinking and one after he is done with it all. This is the first time doing that, but this is a different Dr. than he's had for the last 15 years of doing this too.

Tomorrow, nothing to eat or drink until after he gets home.
