Pre-Clear Customs in Hfx YHZ

Hi everyone,

Quick question for anyone who has pre-cleared customs in Halifax recently. How early did you arrive? Wondering how much time we need to allow ourselves to drive to the airport and get through customs/security before flight departure.

We've used preclearance in Halifax a few times now. But, we always fly early (usually around 6am flights), so that may make a difference.

It's never been overly busy the 4 times we've used it. We used to arrive at Parknfly about 3 hours prior to flight. But, we've adjusted that down to 2 hours based on previous experience. I hate sitting and waiting at the gate. 2 hours early seems to give us about 1 to 1.5 hour waits at the gate.

However, like I said, that has been our experience with early flight times. Other flight times might be different.

I live near YHZ, and its always my favourite for preclearance. It's way, WAY faster than anywhere else. I've never needed 20 minutes for check-in, security and customs all together. I usually budget 1h15 before take-off (I live < 15min from YHZ, so I leave my home about 1.5hrs before take-off). And I still wait around a lot. But they have free wifi, but no tims or starbucks after security, and you can't bring coffee thru security.

Not leaving until the afternoon. We have to leave early from work to go... I want to allow enough time to get there without being in a panic... but don't want to be sitting and waiting for 2 1/2 hours! DH would have us arriving 4 hours prior to flight time if we let him!
