Firstly how go you decide when you want to eat so far in advance!?
I'm not very organised at the best of times lol but we go in 2 weeks and I need to get some things booked. It's our first trip.

Do we pay when we book or when we're at the restaurant?
Do they ask for any sort of deposit? And can you only book over the phone? (Is there a cheaper number to ring from the uk?)

So far on our list of places to eat are:

DLH - just for the experience and hot breakfast (we're staying at the sequoia)

Cafe mickey - but have no idea whether to do breakfast, lunch or tea - anyone help re which is best?

Inventions - will miss Sunday brunch I think as we arrive on a Sunday around lunchtime

Auberge - girly meal with my 3yr old daughter - any particular time that you'd recommend?

Walts - evening meal

We're there for 4 nights so I know we need some more restaurants planned.

As far as i'm aware you don't pay a deposit when you book.

No, you don't pay anything when you phone.

The number to phone is 00 33 1 60 30 40 50 and use a cheap dialling number like 0844 200 9090 first - I haven't had to phone abroad for a while so if that doesn't work look on Money Saving Expert for an alternative.

Sometimes they ask where you're staying and sometimes they ask for your phone number (in case they need to cancel you), you can ask for a reservation number but they don't usually offer this and it's not really necessary as they book you in at the restaurant by name. When you arrive at DLP you can ask either at your hotel or at City Hall for them to print up your dining reservations if you wish, again it's not necessary but you'll be able to check that everything's correct.

I've written my answers in red to the below - hope it helps. :)

You can't book for this one, just turn up and explain you're staying elsewhere but would like to pay for breakfast. IMO best time to go is about 10am, you'll have missed the main rush but it's still early enough that things will be replenished and you won't feel rushed.

Never been for breakfast as IMO it's not particularly good value, but have been for both lunch and dinner and enjoyed both. Lunch is quieter (noise levels and fewer guests) but still got a good vibe about it, dinner is much livelier but great fun.

That's a shame - in that case I'd go for dinner one evening. This is our favourite character meal.
Auberge - girly meal with my 3yr old daughter - any particular time that you'd recommend?
Sorry, not been here since it's become a princess meal.
Walts - evening meal
Love love love it in here, it's my favourite restaurant at DLP. Make sure you do phone fpr reservations for this one, if only to check it's open as it's usually shut Mondays and Tuesdays except in high summer season, also last seating is often 3:45pm except for high summer season.

Thanks for your help I'm going to ring reservations this week.

Can anyone confirm if walts is def shut on mondays and Tuesdays?
If so we will have to book for the Wednesday as we go home Thursday evening.
That seems so early to be shutting at 3:45, I assumed it would be open a lot later - do people not usually go here for the evening meal? Or is it just lunch?
