Question for anyone who has concierge service...

I booked a Category 1 for my trip next March. The DCL rep told me that pre-booking for the excursions starts 60 days prior to the cruise date for anyone with a paid-in-full reservation.

It seems to me (at the risk of sounding, well, uppity, and I certainly don't mean to be) that part of the "perks" for the Concierge Service is that they make sure you don't get "locked out" of a desired excursion.

I looked forward to sitting down with Concierge and booking the excursion once I checked in. Now, apparently, I may have to play "fast dial" so as not to lose something I wanted to do.

I guess my question is: If I don't want to plan that far ahead, even with a Category 1 and all that comes with it, will I lose out?

Thanks for all your help!

Hi Mike!

You do need to pre-book your shore excursions if there is something you absolutely want to do. They do not save booking space for excursions for concierge guests. The excursions are run by outside vendors, not DCL, so they would not want to leave spaces open for folks that they could possibly sell in advance.

You needn't worry, though, most excursions do NOT sell out instantly the first day. Many people don't even pre-book excursions and just take their chances once they get on board. You should have no problem getting what you want if you call right after you have made your final payment.

Enjoy your beautiful Category 1 suite! :sunny:

Thanks, Michelle, I appreciate the quick response!

Do the DCL reps have the info on what TIME the excursions start? I seem to recall that before they went to prebooking, the excursion pamphlets did not have this information.

(I still wish I could just do it on the ship)

Having cruised twice both times Category 2 we opted to prebook our excursions, spa ressies and Palo. We found out the first time that Concierge is only given certain time slots for spa and Palo and they weren't necessarily the time(s) we wanted. Excursions are not run by DCL but by independent vendors so if there is an excursion you absolute are dying to do, by all means prebook it. You will receive information on excursions indicating the times, etc. Also, one of the Concierge "perks" is you are able to board the ship right after the disabled passengers. You will easily get any Palo and spa ressies you want. HTH
