Pre-boarding Covid test question

Hi all - we are going next month and I'm trying to read all I can so I understand the current processes and requirements. So sorry if this has been beat to death but I'm confused about this part under "Know Before You Go". I understood that Disney was covering the costs of the pre-boarding Covid tests. Why does it give the price, if so? Sorry if I'm missing something obvious.

The test should be a NAAT test, rapid PCR test or lab-based PCR test. Rapid antigen tests are not accepted. Disney Cruise Line has secured a special rate of $98.33 per PCR test (which includes a 3.5% processing fee) through our third-party vendor, Inspire Diagnostics. Guests may also obtain their test from any independent testing supplier.

Because they used to only test unvaccinated passengers and made them pay for it. DCL has not done the best of jobs updating the site after each change.

To clarify, there are two tests. The test that everyone takes at the port before boarding is free to passengers. The one that unvaccinated children take <3 days before embarking is $98.33 from Inspire Diagnostics.

If you/your children are fully vaccinated at the time of your cruise, you will only have to take the test at the port that Disney pays for. If you have unvaccinated children under 12, you will need to get them a NAAT or PCR test 3 to 1 day before departure that is at your cost. If you want you can use the inspired Diagnostics for $98 through Disney or you can do it on your own. We've been able to have ours done at CVS at T-3days.

I haven’t seen anything about vaccinated children under 12. We leave in 2 weeks and our 11 yr old is vaccinated now. I hope we don’t have to scramble to find a PCR

I would call to be sure. If you need testing and are leaving from Port Canaveral there is an Inspire site at the Radisson. They can get you in the day before you embark. Their number is 877-250-5132

If Safe Passage says that your child is clear to arrive, then you should be all set. Best to call DCL if you aren't sure, though.

From the Disney Cruise Line Website in the Know before you go testing section:
Upload Proof of Vaccination or COVID-19 Test Results: In order to sail, all Guests (adults and children, regardless of age) must upload their proof of vaccination or negative COVID-19 test results on the Safe Passage website by Inspire Diagnostics. Children ages 5 through 11 who are fully vaccinated before January 13, 2022, may submit proof of their vaccination in lieu of providing a negative pre-trip COVID-19 PCR test. A parent or legal guardian will need to use their own account to provide this information on behalf of minors. To learn more about how to provide proof of your negative COVID-19 test result, please visit Before Leaving Home; Know Before You Go.

So your 11yr old will not need testing 3 days prior, but will have to upload vaccination proof like the adults.

The previous poster is correct. We are on the 12/26 fantasy cruise and I emailed DCL about my now fully vaccinated 9 year old.

The response email says:
Guests that are fully vaccinated do not need to complete pre-trip Covid-19 testing. All guests, regardless of age and vaccination status are required to take a Covid-19 test administered by Inspire Diagnostics at the terminal before boarding the ship.

Note that if your kids are in another cabin with relatives you won't be able to upload their vax info or test. Safe Passage only allows someone in that cabin to do it.
