Pre-assigned Rooms at AKV

This is the first time this has happened to me, so thought I would check to see if this is normal practice.

I have a ressie at the AKV for the last week of January. I have a standard-studio reserved. I called yesterday to get a room for one night (Feb. 3) after returning from the cruise and the CM said she could put me in a dedicated standard studio at the AKV. I thought, I didn't know they knew what type of studio I would be in until checkin. I asked her, if I was in a dedicated standard studio for the first part of my stay and she said the computer was showing I've been booked into a regular standard-studio, but the second reservation is a dedicated standard studio.....has anyone ever heard of this before. Granted I've only been a DVC member for two years, I have stayed at the DVC resorts since becoming a member for 8 trips, studios 7 times. I guess I always thought you got your room assigned at checkin or a few days prior. I never knew you were assigned the room type during the reservation process (not counting BWV, which I know about since I own there). I guess I should request a dedicated studio during the reservation process in the future??

I think that they assign those dedicated studios first. No sense in breaking up a possible 2 bedroom combo if they have dedicated studios or dedicated 1 bedrooms to assign.

PS. I always have asked for a dedicated 2 bedroom at VWL for instance, we really need the 2 Q's in the second bedroom, and we've always been assigned one, and have gotten it.

Thanks, I hadn't realized this. I like the dedicated rooms and always hope for them, but had no idea I could ask for them.

I did check my ressies online and it does say dedicated studio-standard view, so this looks to be a particular category. Of course I was shocked to even get the room for that Sunday night since it's only 9 weeks away--not that I'm counting!

They actually book dedicated vs lockoff at all resorts, although they may not tell you what they have you down for. If they have a lockoff studio and a lockoff 1 bedroom available, they could book those as a 2 bedroom. But if one or both are dedicated, they could not. So they have to know how many of each they have reserved.
