Hi everyone,

I never thought I'd be doing this, but here goes. I'm getting ready to go to Disney Monday and I just got a call from my doctor. His nurse said he would like to see me the following day immediately. It turns out I have skin cancer (possibly melanoma) and it has to be removed. I'm upset and scared because my dad died of cancer at 52 and I'm 40. I planned this trip a year ago and have been talking about it daily and now this happens. My wife said here we are right at the time we are going and you haven't mentioned the trip in the last 5 days. I told her my mind is on the other thing. However, I talked to the surgeon today and he made me feel a lot better. He told me to go on the trip and have a good time and he will remove it when I get back.

So if anybody has some prayers to spare or like to share I'd be glad to take them.

Thanks

Steve G.

Prayers and pixie dust on the way, Steve! Just think of all the medical advances in recent years. :) I'm sure it's difficult, but try to put it out of your mind when you're on vacation. Your doctor wouldn't tell you to go if it needed immediate attention. Hugs to you and your wife!

Prayers to you and your family. Go on your trip like the doctor said. Relaxation and family help alot. Just remember our prayers will be with you on your trip and through your docotor visits.:goodvibes

Try not to let it worry you to much while on vacation and have a fun time. (I know better said than done)

Prayers to your family and you. Have a great trip and try not to worry. I'm sure your doctor wouldn't delay removing the cancer if he was concerned that your health was at risk.

You have my prayers... and I agree with others, go on your vacation and try to have a wonderful time!! And wishing you all the best :)

I agree with the others, you know how doctors are. If there was something they were really worried about, they would tell you. Go and have fun.

I just said a prayer for you. :)

My thoughts are with you Steve. MY DH (58) had a tiny melanoma removed from his foot a couple of years ago, and a "pre-cancerous" spot on his chest excised at the same time. He has since had dermatologist visits every 3-6 months, with a few more supspect spots biopsied each time....all benign except for a squamous cell carcinoma removed from his nose earlier this summer.

Sounds like you have good doctors....use them, educate yourself.....as a previous poster stated, the medical advances on skin cancer are very positive!! I know you'll be FINE!!

GO on your vacation and ENJOY :)

prayed, skin cancer is very treatable, but there goes yours tan ;)

Prayers going out for you. I hope you have a wonderful time on your trip.

Of course, Steve.

I know it can sound scary but try to stay positive and realize that this is a very curable cancer.

I a big proponent of speaking LIFE to difficult situations.

God bless,

and have a GREAT TRIP!!

I hope you can enjoy your trip and not worry too much about this issue. Saying a prayer that this isn't cancer.
