After a very tough pregnancy, my good friend Wayne and his wife Lora welcomed their twin girls to the world tonight. They were born at 26 weeks.

Elizabeth "Bettie" H.
1 lb 15 oz
13.75"

Veronica "Roni" H.
1 lb 8 oz
13"

Please pray for their baby girls! They need all the help they can get right now to keep them fighting.

I never post to the family boards, as I do not have a family of my own. But I felt this was appropriate here. The more prayers for their two tiny girls the better. Thank you so much.

Prayers being said! As the mother of two preemies, myself, I understand where they are. They're blessed to have your support. Remind someone to take lots of pictures! THey'll appreciate it later. It's something you don't think about in the moment when everything is so unexpected and chaotic. And buy them a baby gift and take it in to them and don't forget to congratulate them. No matter what happens, they need that affirmation.

*MAJOR* P&PT's! :) Having a baby born early and being in the NICU is one of the hardest things for a new mom to endure. Big hugs to her. Modern technology is a wonderful thing, thank goodness for that!

As a father of a premie (26 wks), we will definitely pray - it was prayers that carried us through 3 1/2 months in the hospital. Our daughter will graduate next year - and our prayers will be that these little ones have the same opportunity. Blessings.

It's great that she was able to make it to 26 weeks. If born just a couple weeks earlier, their chances of survival would have been slim to none. There are lots of great NICU nurses out there who I'm sure will be taking excellent care of the babies. Take mom and dad some meals, or get them a gift card to a restaurant near the hospital, and continue to support them over the next several weeks while they're spending most of their time at the hospital. If you have several friends in common, maybe each person could take one day of the week to deliver a meal. If they have any animals at home that need to be taken care of, maybe you could offer to help with that, or at least help them make arrangements for it to be done. We've had patients before who couldn't concentrate on what was going on with the baby because they were worried about the poor dog who hadn't been let out for several hours! They may not be able to specifically name things they need help with right now because they're so overwhelmed with emotion, but if you can think of specifics like that to offer to help with, I'm sure they'll appreciate it. I'll keep them in my prayers!

Heartfelt prayer said! I hope your friends precious baby girls keep fighting and growing. :goodvibes

And as a mom of a preemie I concur with pp's...whatever you can do to help...do it! Organizing someone to take out the dog or cut the grass or stock up the fridge, etc. All are welcome. Also gift certs to places local to the hospital were wonderful for us to get out of the NICU for just a little while.
