Prayers/good thoughts please

My wonderful 53 year old Mom went in to have a biopsy done on a lump in her breast this morning. It will be early next week before she gets the results. She's had several places of skin cancer removed from her face but this is freaking me out even more than those did. Please send any good thoughts or prayers her way. Thank you . I'm planning on watching some of her favorite shows tonight with her and make her some S'Mores (her favorite) .

I'm sending my prayers and good thoughts and want you to know that the waiting is the worst part. I'm 53; I was diagnosed with advanced stage breast cancer 3 years ago. In that moment, I thought it was the worst day of my life. It turned out to be one of the best days of my life. Not only are treatments for breast cancer very advanced now and almost all women recover fully, it gives you a chance to look at your life from a different perspective. I became much closer to my husband, my children, my own parents as a result of going through it and I certainly enjoy life a lot more now.

Try to remember 1) most biopsies come back benign and 2) even if it's not, this is a very treatable illness.

Pakey- Thank you, this makes me feel so much better. It does ease my mind to know that my Mom has been doing self breast exams consistently and getting all tests and anything else she needs to do done regularly and that it is treatable.

Things like this do completely open up your eyes to what's important and that none of us are here forever or guaranteed long, healthy lives. My Dad had a heart attack last year and my Mom and I always say it was the best day of his life. He has become such a different, healthy, happy, carefree person. It's amazing what "second" chances can do to people .
