Prayers for my HOMETOWN! Tornado last night.

The tornado in Millbury Ohio from last night hit my hometown.

I hope this link works. This is my hometown and High School...My parents still live there, but they are okay and no damage, but they are less than a mile from where the tornado hit the houses the worst (and they are about 4 miles from the school and police station that were both completely destroyed.)


The hs was to have graduation today, but its been postponed indefinitely. The dad of the class valedictorian is among those who died.


Please keep the town of Millbury, Ohio in your prayers...they are going to need every one of them!

The devastation is horrible. Seven people died. I knew two of them. Mary Walters and her 5 year old son Hayden. Mary was a wonderful person. I'm still in shock.

how scary! I'm glad though I didn't see the weather for OH earlier...Dh was there all week not too far from Millbury. He is flying home this morning and I would have been terrified had I known. Prayers for the victims and families affected by this. How sad for all

Prayers to your friends familes, did I hear correctly that they are the ones who they other family members are in critical condition? Oh my God, I just can't imagine the grief they are experiencing.

My mom says it looks like a war zone.
Its one of those things that you hear about happening in other places, but you never expect it at home, KWIM??

Yes, Mary and 5yo Hayden were killed, Ryan (the dad) is in critical condition in ICU and Maddie, 8yo will be okay but she is still in the hospital as far as I know.

Mary was an administrator at our son's daycare and Hayden was in his class.

I know when someone dies everyone says what a nice person they were but in this case it is true. Mary was truly one of the nicest people that I have ever met. I'm in shock that we will never see her or Hayden again. I've been sitting here crying for hours. They do have grief counselors at the school for the kids.

Please say a prayer for the family.

Very, very sad. Prayers are with them all. The precursor tornadoes of those Ohio tornadoes hit about an hour earlier here in south suburban Chicago. No deaths, lots of damage and injuries. We all need to take each day as a gift.

Thank you for the link. There is a video on the Rossford FD Facebook page that shows the path of the storm and the destruction. It is truly heartbreaking.

Dan, thanks for posting the link, everytime I tried, it went directly to my personal facebook page.

I'm heading back there in a few weeks for a previously scheduled visit. It will be unreal to see my HS destroyed. A girl I graduated with was one of the people who lost their house, but thankfully they are okay physically.


Maumeemom...that is truly heartbreaking.. .I'm praying that your friends husband pulls through...that little girl is going to need her daddy! So very sad.

Update

The funerals for the tornado victims are being held this weekend. Mary and Hayden are being laid to rest tomorrow. It is heartbreaking.

Maddie, Mary's little girl is still hospitalized but may be released in a week. Ryan, Mary's husband is still in critical condition and they are taking things day by day. We continue to pray for his recovery.

The funeral is at noon tomorrow so, if you are so inclined, please say a prayer for the Walters family.

Sadly, Ryan Walters has passed away.

Maddie has been released from the hospital and is in the care of her aunt and uncle.
