I just heard from a friend who said his MIL was just admitted to ICU. I asked what happened, and he said she has CLL...Leukemia. He also said things have not been good with her lately. Any prayers you can offer for her would be appreciated! DISers are so good at that! Thank you!!
"CLL, then, is a chronic, or slow-progressing, form of leukemia that affects the lymphocytes, most commonly the B-lymphocytes. As discussed above, cells grow when the body needs them. Old cells die and new cells take their place. In people with CLL, however, one specific type of lymphocyte does not die when it normally should. It accumulates in the body, crowding out other blood cells and sometimes causing enlarged liver, spleen, or lymph nodes. In addition, these cells do not function normally. They may fail to make the antibodies that can make a person susceptible to infections. Or they may make too many antibodies, which can destroy red blood cells and platelets."
