I just found out one of my high school science teachers, one I had a great relationship with, has been diagnosed with leukemia that has taken a turn for the worst. He has a wife and a young son, and it has hit our school pretty hard. I went to a very small high school (my graduating class had 45 kids), and just three years ago we lost another science teacher to cancer, but not before it took one of his legs. If you could pray for his family and for a swift recovery as well as for a marrow donor, that would be wonderful.

Also, if you are in the Boynton Beach area, my high school is having a blood drive this Saturday so we can find him a donor. If you are at all interested in helping, please PM me, or you can Mapquest Lake Worth Christian School. Even if you cannot attend, pray we get a good turnout. The more people we have, the more likely we will get him a marrow transplant.

I hope everything goes well for you teacher. Sending thoughts and prayers your way. Hope you get a great turn out at the blood drive. :grouphug:

We will keep him in our thoughts and prayers. Good luck with the donor drive.

Your friend, your school and your community (you too!) are in my thoughts and prayers.

I'll be keeping everyone in my thoughts & prayers.:flower3: I hope the blood drive is a great success.

Thanks everyone. Mr. Miller needs some major prayer warriors right now.

I have been trying to get all of my old high school friends together to go to the blood drive, but they are suddenly afraid of needles (yes they have given blood before). So yeah, I'm frustrated. I'm hoping God will knock some sense into them.

My aunt (who teaches Mr. Miller's son) said that there was a praise report in the church newsletter for the week that said:

A bone marrow donor has been found for Ken Miller, one of our ECS parents.
Please continue to pray that the procedure goes well, his body doesn't
reject it and that
he is healed.
Thanks and God bless,
Gene

Hooray!! He's not out of the woods yet, but this is great news. Thank you to everyone for your prayers!!

Wow!!! That is fantastic news. It really is amazing that a donor match was found at all, never mind that it is someone in the immediate area. MY DH and I have been a registers bone marrow donors for years and I know how rare it is to find a match.

I am so happy for your teacher and will be keeping him in my prayers.

My son donated blood stem cells last week because of the marrow registry. The donor is supposed to be a very close match.

I hope more people sign up to be marrow donors. In my sons case he was uncomfortable for a week while they gave him the injections to stimulate the blood stem cells and the procedure but he felt great he was helping to save a life.
