Prayers and PD for DD....surgery to remove growth inside ear, update # 19

I would just like to request any special prayers and pixie dust for my DD (14 yrs old) who is having surgery tomorrow at Sick Kids Hospital in Toronto. She has what is call a Cholesteatoma (growth inside her ear that eats away the bone) and is having it removed.

She seems OK with everything right now, it is the first of 3 operations that she will require. I think it is my DH that is the most nervous. Anyway, your special prayers would be greatly appreciated!

My DD6 had surgery this past September for a "suspected cholesteotoma". It was caught in the early stages and her ENT is hopeful that it won't progress further. She also had to have a tube put in to repressurize her eardrum because it had become completely concave. The good news is she is doing well. We go back in March for a follow-up.

We were a nervous wreck the whole time. to you.

Unfortunately it was not caught early, she has worn a hearing aid for some time and we needed to change it, that was how the cholesteotoma was found. She has no bones left inside her ear, hence the 3 operation minimum. As long as it does not come back within 18 months, they will start to rebuild what they can.

Well, we have arrived home. DD tolerated the surgery quite well, although she was sick to her stomach from the anesthetic. They removed the Cholesteatoma and were able to do a little bit of extra work, they used some special tissue to rebuild the ear drum and also a prosthetic bone replacement to start rebuilding the ear. She will still require at least 2 other operations to continue rebuilding, but for now she is doing well!!! Thank goodness!
