Practice DCP Application?

Hello!

Thanks everybody for providing such a wonderful resource for the DCP here! I've been reading the threads over the past few days, and there's just so much information that I haven't been able to find anywhere else

I've always wanted to participate in the DCP, but I don't think it'll fit into my schedule until spring 2017 (or later). However, it seems like many people don't get accepted on their first attempt. Would it make sense to apply now for fall 2016, just so I can get a feel for the application process? Could anything go wrong with this plan? From what I've read here, previous applications don't have any negative effects on your current application

So I actually did this, kind of. I did the web-based interview just to see if I would pass (I did) even though I had no intention of doing the program. However, I never scheduled my phone interview and therefore my application wasn't "complete". Two and a half years later I got into the program for real.

So ultimately, I wouldn't go through the whole thing and decline, I think there's always a slight chance that could hurt you in the future. But you could take the WBI for practice and that might not kill you.
