PPO -- Does the reservation time matter?

I thought I read on here that no matter what time my PPO reservation is, I can still get seated at 8am. Can anyone confirms this? Specifically, we have 8:20am Reservations at Tusker House, but should we check in at 8? Also...does Tusker PPO get you any specific advantage in terms of beating rope drop crowds? Thanks in advance.

You can TRY to get seated at 8AM.
No guarantees.

What generally happens is that you can be ADMITTED to the park a bit before 8AM,
but whether you will be seated at or near 8AM is a matter of luck.

At Tusker House, you will be just steps from the entrance to Kilimanjaro Safari.

As to the second part of your question, we are quick eaters and are usually out of there prior to 9AM. We've done that twice and went straight to the Safari which is close. Both times we've been the first Safari of the day. So yes, being that far into the park has some advantage depending on what you want to do.

Note, one time we made it through all the charachters, one time we skipped the last one.

At Tusker House last year, we were first to the check in booth with 815am ADR (I think..it wasn't 8am anyway) We were not seated first, but I'm pretty sure we were called prior to our time. I suspect they called everyone with ADRs before us, but who had checked in after us, first. Honestly, I would be irritated if I had the 8am ADR and found that the 830am ADR was seated before me.

You have a definite advantage for the safari. As the previous poster mentioned, we go to the safari and are in the first truck. It's nice not doing that awful walk from rope drop. We also found that it does not put you at a disadvantage for Everest. You just kind of merge with the crowd. Not an advantage other than a more pleasant walk -- in the shade with no pushy crowd.

I'm hoping that it is a good plan for Pandora as well. Maybe not an advantage, but a more pleasant walk?

This is what I am hoping for, too. I can see the yellow rope drop line on Robo's map, but I wonder how close to Pandora breakfast eaters will get once that opens.
