PPO breakfast vs mid-morning breakfast

Another benefit of the PPO breakfast is the entry process is a little smoother. There's usually a smaller crowd, short lines, etc. For people who don't like standing around in a large crowd outside the park for whatever reason, the PPO breakfast is a little less stressful from that perspective. Our group is mostly early risers so it's not hard for us to get there on time.

as of now MK lets everyone I as far as the castle every morning at 8 for a 9 park opening with the welcome show now at the castle. coming out of Crystal Palace PPO people will be behind most of crowd at the park opening at the castle

When you do a breakfast ADR, particularly a character breakfast, is your preference to do a pre-park opening ADR with the intention of finishing up before rope drop? Or do you prefer to arrive for rope drop, do some rides, and then head to breakfast mid-morning?

We are traveling as a group of 9 in August. If we do a pre-park opening ADR, I'm concerned with finishing in time to take advantage of rope drop/early morning in the park. But if we do mid-morning, I'd be concerned with how much we'd actually get done before breakfast.

What's your preference and why?

I prefer my character meals to be lunches or dinners because the value for the food you get is so much better. That being said, if they don't offer a lunch and dinner is not an option than it's definitely the latest breakfast possible.

How does this work with an ADR at be our guest before 9am?

not sure as no one in my group wants to eat there. I assume there is a CM that lets you past castle to get to Be Our Guest. but rope drop is at castle so crowd would get there before they used to from the gate rope drop

There is a check in point for guests with PPO ADRs at CRT and BOG. Last report I saw was on the castle left as you approach. You are then allowed into Fantasyland and go check-in at the restaurant. Folks getting out of BOG early have still been getting multiple rides on 7DMT before the rest of the crowd arrives. In fact, Josh at EasyWDW reports that there is actually more time to ride before the crowd arrives - see his post from January 29. Basically, the welcome show starts later than it used to so the rope drop crowd doesn't get to Mine Train until later than they used to when they were held at the entrance. Of course, things do vary from day to day.

What does PPO mean concerning dining reservations? Must have missed this along the line. Thanks!

Prior to Park Opening

So for example...an 8:05 reservation on a day the park is advertised to open at 9am

We prefer PPO for breakfast because we are able to have a sit down breakfast before RD. Otherwise it's just something quick in the room before we go. We would not use that early time to eat mid morning while lines build.

We will only do breakfast ADRs if they are PPO. In August I would think you'd rather wait until lunch to cool off and take a break.

I think you answered your own question here. I would say with a larger party i would forgo PPO breakfast reservations and maybe just do an early lunch - say 11-12. If you really want breakfast then you can often do a 10:55 reservation where a buffet is changing over from breakfast to lunch and you can actually have the option of more items.

A quick breakfast in room or a QS at your resort might be a better option so that you can take advantage of rope drop. If you are worried about your party finishing up in time you will not be enjoying yourself, your meal or the environment. An early lunch is a good way to get a few rides done and then you might be ready for a little break

My original post is almost a year old now, but as an update - we ended up doing a late morning breakfast and it worked out ok. I think my preference is still pre-park opening, but I doubt we could have logistically done that with our party of 9.
