I am planning a trip with my mom and sister and trying to decide if the extra $ for the concierge would be worth it for us if we utilized the lounge a couple times a day in place of eating meals in the parks. We are all light eaters and are also traveling with my son (2 1/2) and my niece (18 months) who obviously won't be eating a lot either.

Here are my questions:
What are the hours the lounge is open?
Is milk available all day for the kiddos? What about water bottles?
Are the snacks/appetizers heavy enough to serve as meals for 3 ladies and two toddlers (to be supplemented with plenty of churros, Mickey pretzels, frozen bananas, etc.) ;)

Mom is paying for the hotel and has booked offsite, but I think I can convince her to go for this if the concierge goodies take food out of the budget! She is also eligible for the senior discount, so it would be 30% off.

It is a great lounge and usually not much more to upgrade from a theme park view. If I remember correctly, hours are 6:30 am to 8:30 pm. Yes to drinks all day - milk, soda, juice, water, tea and coffee as well as some snacks - chips, trail mix, fruit, crustables, etc.

We have always been able to make a meal or two out of the happy hour - they have 2 hot appetizers, cheese plate, veggie plate and desserts - including chocolate dipped strawberries. If you go, they have the best CM working there - Jerry! He is awesome!

Here is a good thread with photos:

Oooh, that was a great thread--thank you! I am loving those chocolate covered strawberries!!!

We did Concierge last in June 2011 and really enjoyed it. We were able to get it discounted due to a Summer promotion and would definitely consider it in the future if we could get it discounted. If you are getting a 30% discount, I think that is GREAT!! It was nice in the morning to grab a light morning snack/coffee and eat on our way in the the parks. We got a cabana/pool level room with the slider out to the pool and that was awesome. So convenient, especially in the Summer for those rest breaks mid-day back at the hotel. :cool1:

It's been almost 5yrs since we were there at PPH concierge, but my family of 5 (kids 7, 10, & 14 at the time) had breakfast there every morning and I think that ended up being dinner 3 of the 4 nights we were there. I remember slider hamburgers and fries one night, some kind of little rolled up enchilada/taquito things one night, and ???? can't remember the other, but there was always veggies, dip, cheese, crackers, that kind of thing. I think there was also always milk....

For us it was perfect, because we were coming back to the hotel for a rest/swim in the late afternoon anyway, so we would grab dinner in the lounge before we headed back to the parks. None of us are huge eaters when we are doing all those rides and walking, so it worked out fine, and left plenty of room for special Disney snacks in the parks later. I had an amazing AP rate of I think $169, so I figured that considering that included breakfast every morning, and dinner all the nights except the one we had a table service meal planned, plus drinks and snacks, that was pretty good.

I'd definitely say go for it with the discount.

You can get milk, water, soda, and coffee all day long and take some into the park with you (the water in the park is overpriced so you definitely save money here too). They also have Uncrustables (pb&j) which I think are available all day and you could take those into the park as lunch.

I think what they serve in the evening could be a meal for light eaters - last time there were duck wings and something else in addition to the wine and cheese. Then there's chips, cookies, and desserts. The convenience of breakfast is my favorite part (besides the espresso maker) there's no eggs or meat, but a good selection of bagels, muffins, cereal, and fruit.

Last time we realized its worth it especially when you add up all the little things you get from there. We usually stay concierge, but thought we didn't need it last time and we ended up upgrading when we saw how much we had to pay for the same little conveniences. For example coffee, it's easy to make lattes in the lounge and I usually drink a cup at breakfast and a then a few throughout the day. You go downstairs to the cafe to buy one and it's almost $5, that would quickly add up if I were to drink as many as I would get from the lounge. Then the fruit tarts they serve in the evening, well those were about $5 in the park. And then the plate of rice crispy treats they give you in your room when you stay concierge, we saw a mouse keeper with some in the hall and asked how much they would be to buy them and it's $5 per treat (it comes with 3 on a plate). We got hungry coming back from the park and brought nachos from downstairs when we could've just had the appetizers from the lounge. We were like that's it we might as well upgrade.

We did PPH concierge last year and it fed three adults and three kiddos under 4 for breakfast and snacks every day, plus it helped with dinner.

We mostly used the drinks and snacks. Loaded up on water and soda and juice for the parks in the morning and grabbed some fruit.

The hot appetizers weren't great every night but they supplemented what we grabbed on the way back to the hotel and we were able to buy much less stuff from the parks/outside restaurants.

Sadly the senior discount does not apply to conceirge or suites. Standard and view rooms only.

What are the hours the lounge is open?- Early we were like there around 6am and its open until 8pm

Is milk available all day for the kiddos? What about water bottles? Yes. in the cooler in the middle open the doors.. water soda and juice boxes too.. ask the CM there and they will give you water to take into the park with you..

We stayed in CA view suites in May (1 bedroom) and December (2 bedroom) last year and got the 30% senior discount both times. You do not get 30% off of the concierge price (it was $125 per night per room last year) though.

To the OP, the lounge was open from 6:30 to 8 or 8:30. I remember standing outside the door at 6:25 waiting for it to open. Milk, water, juice, soda, coffee, tea and chips and other light snacks are available all day. I agree that the evening food wasn't alway great, but that it worked as a light meal a couple of nights. We are picky eaters though, I admit that outright.

At the DLH suites were not being offered the senior discount this summer, I tried to book one and was told this by the CM. Apparently PP is handled differently. Yes, the concierge charge does not qualify for the senior discount at any of the three DLR hotels.

BTW the lounge at PP closes at 8 PM or at least it did Oct 2011 when we last stayed concierge at PP. That's the one thing I dislike about PP concierge. The lounges at the other two DLR hotels are open till 10 PM.

It still closes at 8. We stayed in mid July.

Yeah, it does close at 8. I asked this since it is different that DLH and GCH and was told that since the PPH lounge does not have fireworks viewing and the other two do, they close early. To see the fireworks at PPH, you need to go to the roof - well, the roof that is on the 3rd floor on the far end of the pool area.

Sorry if I am hijacking this thread! How do you go about requesting the Senior Discount? I am taking my Mom along to a work-related conference and think she would prefer to stay in a Disney hotel. She is 78 so definitely qualifies for the Senior Discount!

I would just ask if they offer a senior discount when inquiring about the room.

I see someone mentioned wine. Do you know if they have beer i mean "daddy pops" available?

For us, we found the hotel was just a bit too far from the parks to really make it practical to go back and forth to use the lounge. We would eat there in the morning, but that was about it.

I want to say yes, but I couldn't tell you what kind was offered. I only ever grabbed chocolate dipped strawberries when I was there at that time.
