So, I've been planning my trip on a budget. But I decided to last 3 night to stay on-site. We have never stayed at the PP, but we have stayed at DLH and the GCH. My fav is DLH. Would you stay at PP for $179/night or DLH for $209/night. I just can't seem to make up my mind. :confused3

Now have we not been over this??? :lmao: :rotfl2: you know what you want to do...you know what you have to do....
Now where are you staying?? :dance3:
(from everything I've read, DLH is a nice hotel than PP....and the walk is much less!)
Next post better be about what your confirmed dates are at the DLH!! :rotfl:

This board really is the devil lololol.

I do have confirmed dates at the DLH! :lmao: but, I STILL can't decide! This Disney 'disease' I have is bad...makes me act like a crazy person :rotfl2:

Crazy?? that is what all the other people who are not Disney addicts are!! :rotfl2: I totally understand.... but still think...DLH...Dreams Tower, pool view, new room if possible!
$30. per night more than PP...for 3 nights....less than $100. make sure and post pictures of the new rooms if you get one!! :goodvibes
don't forget too...the monorail is literally a 2 minute walk from the door of the dreams tower, takes you right into Disneyland! albeit over in Tomorrowland, but you can hop on the train at the station there and get off in Disneyland where ever you want! so convenient!

Did you read the post that mentioned the newly renovated rooms will be ready right away? you should call and request one! We need someone to stay in one asap so we can hear all the details and see actual (not staged) photos!

I disagree! And I've mentioned it before, not sure when, but at some point. :)

When we stayed at DLH there was ONE time we took the monorail in when we wanted to be there "on time", and it did NOT make us on time. Of course, we were silly and thought that the walk from the m'rail to Fantasyland would be shorter than down Main Street. insert laughter here...since I get lost and confused in the general Matterhorn area..yeah, NOT shorter. Missed just about half the MM b/c of that mistake...

So walking from DLH, even though we were right in the DTD-facing tower and came out the doors facing DTD, involved the circuitous route through DTD, which drives me batty for many reasons, but it's long b/c it's not a straight line.

PPH, you go out the front, cross the street, go through GCH, halfway through DTD, and you're there. From where our room was, last trip, IN GCH, coming from PPH was probably the same stinkin' distance. Our room was really poorly placed...it was right across from Naples, which is just about at the end of the building, so we would wave hi to the room as we walked past it to the GCH entrance, then had to get to the elevators and allll the way back. Ugh. But we weren't in the building with the secret exit, either!

So anyway, I used mapmyrun and got as close in with the google view as possible to estimate the walk. DLH=.47 mile. PPH=.46 mile.

Not a big difference, but DLH is further, and remember, that's coming from the closest building to DTD...

Oh wait, just checked, I started as though you were starting just at the end of the closest building...but with the way the doors are placed, it's just a few yards longer than .47.

I like PPH! Nice big rooms, a simple pool with a slide my son could use if he wanted to use a tall slide (he's not a strong enough swimmer yet to use the big slides at the fancier pools), the smell of suntan lotion pumped in at the doors...Goofy's statue greeting you...what's not to love?

DLH was good too, but having to walk ALL the way through DTD drove me batty every time we did it, but we never wanted to start IN Tomorrowland...and the time we left the park, the line was annoying. And then it's not like you're *right* there...still gotta get past RFC and ESPN Zone and the creepy creepy moving things on the side of the building.

Try PPH, you haven't been there, so you don't yet know how you feel!

Plus, $30 per night isn't cheap!

I agree with Molly, I really like PP, it feels like a high rise hotel, where DH always has a motel vibe to me.....I really miss a real lobby to walk through.

Here is another vote for PPH! :thumbsup2 I'm not a big fan of DLH. The walk really is about the same and I'd rather walk thru the GCH.
The rooms are large and have great big windows with good views. And NO balconies! (I am glad they are getting rid of those silly balconies at DLH - not safe for families with young kids.)
Also, did you read they will be switching the character breakfast there to include Mickey? :thumbsup2

I like all 3 DLR hotels for different reasons and always prefer to say onsite in one of them if I can (though last time we were at DLR, there was no hotel at all, of any kind:mad:), but if I knew that I would only be able to stay at PPH for all my DLR visits from now on and never again stay at the DLH or GCH, I would be fine with it.

I think the walk to and from the PPH can seem daunting because it takes you across the street, but, by following the GCH short cut that Molly described, it is really a pleasant walk, where you get to see a little bit of DTD, a little bit of the GCH and then there you are at PPH. PPH has a cute little beachy theme and all kinds of sun-surf-nautical touches here and there, but it doesn't have the spacious grounds that the DLH has. PPH is just basically a building and the parking structure. Still, considering that you can obtain the same perks of being a DLR hotel guest by staying at the PPH as you would at the DLH, you can still enjoy much of what the DLH has to offer on its property even without staying there, and you can save a bit of money in the process - why not try the PPH? Now, if money is no object and you really enjoyed your stay at the DLH last time, stick with the tried and true and go back to DLH.

Oh, and I agree with Molly about the Monorail thing - last December, when staying at the PPH and using our MM hour, my friend wanted to stop in DTD, wait in the line for the Monorail and get on it just to 'save footsteps.' Meanwhile, I could tell that by the time we actually got on the Monorail, the Monorail got moving and we set foot in DL, our MM hour would be halfway expired! So I said to my friend, "Why are we waiting in this line? Let's just walk to the main entrance and go down Main Street, where they are letting people in soon." So we did, and we were able to salvage our MM hour. (Plus, I wanted to stop at the humongous Christmas tree and take PhotoPass pictures, so there was a method to my madness!;)) In any case, the Monorail is not always the 'best' route to take when using your MM!!

Well I guess the only way to know for yourself, is to stay at all of them and see! I know in July, during high season, when staying in the Dreams tower at DLH, we took the monorail on our magic mornings. We arrived in Tomorrowland in time to do every Fantasyland ride as a walk on and Nemo subs without any wait. Getting lost of course would add to the time.... there is a reason they charge more for DLH and a Motel is like park vue inn or one of those....with the rooms that open off an outside walkway...DLH is most definitely a Hotel. If you need a lobby with a front desk and lot's of people to walk through, you can request the main building (Magic tower) I prefer the smaller lobby of the Dream building with it's cozy seating areas, and lack of people.

I LOVE DLH, which I've said many times so I won't bore everyone with my excellent arguments :rotfl:. I'm not a big fan of PPH, though I have to qualify that with the admission that I haven't actually stayed there since it was the Pan Pacific. To me, it just feels like it's sort of clinging to the resort but isn't *really* part of it--it is a nice hotel but it's just a hotel, whereas the other 2 are resort hotels with landscaping, grounds, activities, etc. beyond what PPH can do because of its space limitations.

HOWEVER, if it were me and I was trying to budget (HA HA), I'd go PPH concierge. Their concierge is a much better deal than DLH and GCH's concierge. It isn't much more than a standard room and gives you food and beverages all day. Outside of that, I'd opt for DLH. I love the location because I like lots of things at that end of DTD, plus I'm partial to its food choices. I like having the monorail there (makes it easy to go back to RFC for dinner and then back to DL!) but mostly I love the setting. I find it the most "magical" (for lack of a better term) of the 3 hotels.

I certainly understand what a motel is :) . At DLH we stay concierge so we are in the building without a lobby. Being in a "wing" not connected to a grand main lobby, gives off a motel vibe to me. Sorry. Wierd but true.
I really enjoyed the PP's lobby and glass elevator, it just felt more upscale to me.
