PP+ Lanyard Question

When we had PP+ last April (second week it came out so they didn't quite have it all figured out) the little card on the lanyard that lists the attractions that are included fell off our lanyard. I went to the PP location at DHS and they gave me such a hard time about giving me a new one. They said they are sold as sets and that I could not get another one. I thought this was ridiculous that I prepaid for this service and they wouldn't give me another little card that I wanted to keep as a souvenir. They eventually did give me another one but it was a process!

SO, my question is, what happens if you lose your PP+ card? Regular PP cards are a dime a dozen but what happens with these cards??? I ask because I was a bit nervous that the little card had fallen off with no visible damage to the clip on the lanyard and since I was wearing it, not a child, I know it was not mishandled. I know to take a picture of the card so as not to lose the pictures taken but has anyone had to replace one?

You must physically have that card receive the plus benefits (dining photos, ride photos). They don't issue extra ones, probably because they don't want folks sharing like they do with regular photopass.

This is what I am afraid of... So then if you pay $150 up front - or even $200 at the park! - and you lose the card, then you can't take advantage of the + service???? That just doesn't seem right!!

We were worried about this too, when I googled around I found this and it reassured me. I think as long as you take a picture of the original number you should be fine.

"We went to Animal Kingdom on Saturday & when we went to have our Dinosaur photo added to our Photopass+ , the card wasn't on the lanyard that it came on. Luckily I had used my cell phone's camera to take a picture of the back of the Photopass+ card & made sure that the numbers were easy to read in the photo. We also got lucky in that the cm who was helping us was knowledgeable about what to do in the situation. The cm went ahead and added the ride's photo to the Photopass+ using the picture on my cell phone. He then told us to go to Garden Gate Gifts at the front of the park, explain what happened & that they would be able to replace the card. We hightailed it over to Garden Gate Gifts, explained what happened to a cm who proceeded to replace the Photopass+ card for us."

Wow, I never thought about having a problem if the card got lost! I guess it makes sense why though. I did take a photo of the back of my PP+ card last trip and it didn't fall off the lanyard. However I wasn't too confident in the little clasp that attached the cards to the cord type lanyard it came with and I re-attached mine onto a 'proper' lanyard with a sturdy split ring.

Do they only issue one PP+ card per purchase? :confused3 I am planning to buy it for our upcoming trip but I would like for my oldest son to carry one too since he and my daughter ride the "big" rides while we do something else. Its also nice to have a second card to bring to meet and greets with one child while the others go to do something else. These are only 2 examples of when I use 2 cards, there are many other times.

You only get one card per purchase and they won't bend on that. It seems they have toughened up on this to try prevent photopass sharing.

You can still get those photos if you split up. Just get your DS and DD to collect their ride photo stubs after the ride and once they are done with that attraction for the day, you can go and redeem all the photos at their photo desks for the respective rides.

If you are not into 'big rides' it may be better to give your son the PP+ card to carry, since most of the ride photos are only available for the 'big rides'

We also bought a better lanyard for our PP+ card and all our park passes. They were only $6-7, and I just felt better about not having to keep the park passes somewhere else. Made it easy for pulling out for fastpasses and stuff too. We had a little trouble finding one on the first day, but ended up seeing them in the Big top souvenirs in the new fantasyland.

When I picked mine up I asked for tape because at DLR I would have lost my card if not for a fellow guest. He said that they had had problems with clasps in the early days but the clasps were changed. He pretty much made us take a picture of the card and assured us that it would be replaced if the card were lost.

You only need the Plus card for the ride and dining photos. If the kids are riding the rides, give them the Plus card. You can still add regular photopass cards to your account, so the others can just get regular cards from a photographer.

If the 2 groups are both doing rides with photos, the one group will have to make a note of the picture number and return later to have it added, as pp explained.

Our kids are 5 and 1 so we won't be splitting up. My concern is more of, if it's lost will I lose out the perks. And I only worry since it kind of happened to us already... I know I can always get another regular PP card and add on the pics but will a picture on my phone of the + card be enough to get my included print outs or will it be a problem. Maybe I should just hope for the best and NOT expect the worst! :goodvibes

Early on there were reports of them giving the dining prints and adding ride photos with a photo of the card. Then reports changed and they were no longer doing that.

I'd just keep a good photo of the card, then if you lose it, use that photo to get it replaced at a photo center.

Yes, be positive :goodvibes

But by the same token, had I read this before we went last year with PP+ I would also have been a little unnerved about it. I have the PP+ lanyard hanging right next to me as I sit and type this and it is not sturdy. I didn't think about it seriously at the time, assuming the snapshot of the card on my phone would suffice should I need a replacement, but there was an element of doubt about the strength of the metal pin at the time.

If you don't want to spend money on a Dinsey lanyard, order one before you go and just replace the one it comes on. The one they issue the card on is a simple cord with a plastic clasp at the back - yep, plastic. It's probably good enough to sustain mild wear and tear but if you took off a backpack and it got caught on the cord, it will pull loose and it's down to you to spot it if it comes apart.

I was lucky as we collected ours on our arrival night at DTD (we didn't do a park due to late afternoon arrival and went for dinner at DTD). I collected the card and then my DD saw a starter pin trading set on a lanyard at Pin Traders. It was discounted to around $9 and I suggested we got that for her just as trading pins as it was really cheap. I gave her the pins and claimed the lanyard. Problem solved :lmao:

I also used my regular pin lanyard and was never worried about losing my card. Of course, I also took that lanyard apart at home and sewed the ends together myself. If you can't do that, I'd safety pin the ends together if it doesn't appear sturdy. I had one once the was held together with velcro. That struck me as very iffy.

This is exactly our plan for our arrival day!! :cool1:

Do you all think that the Disney lanyards are good ones?? I will definitely buy one to keep the PP+ card safe!

Have they re-done the lanyards? Ours looked like this last week and we found it very secure...

I have purchased plus 3 times now. On the third trip I did lose the little card, but I have had no issues with the real card.

That looks identical to the one I have from last September. But do you see where that last hook is where the clasp is attached? Mine has a larger gap and if you wiggle the clasp, you can actually pull it right through the hook. Perhaps they are not all equally well closed ?

Ahh I see, yeah there is no gap on that loop at all, almost as if someone went in with a pliers and made it tighter.
