First off, let me introduce myself. I've been lurking here for quite some time and thought I would finally post.

My wife and I have two wonderful kids; daughter, age 2 and son age 8. My wife is a kindergarten teacher and is ape over Disneyland.

We've been to DL twice before. Once when my son was four, and most recently, last summer. We have stayed at Hampton Inn and Crowne Plaza. Both were ok, I wouldn't say they were wonderful, though we did enjoy the Crowne Plaza more than HI.

This year we decided to take the plunge and stay on-site at DLR. We'll be down there the second week of August. After much debate we decided to stay at PP rather than DH or GC ( wayyy outa my budget). We've upgraded to concierge level service and supposedly have a room reserved as Upper Floors - Park View. Having never stayed on-site before, I have questions:

1) What are the chances that our room ( Concierge level Upper Floor, Park View) will not be honored? I've seen a lot of posts on other boards that bemoan this unsavory surprise upon check in.

2) Best course of action to take if the Desk Staff tries to switch my room to something less than what I am paying for? Obviously I won't throw a ranting fit, but want to know what my options are in case this should happen.

3) Can the Concierge staff make dinner reservations for us at the Blue Bayou so we don't have to race there when the park opens and stand in line? One would hope so.

4) Other than the Concierge lounge, drinks, snacks, wine & cheese, etc. What does Concierge Level service have to offer. I just want to make sure I get my fingers into whatever I am paying for ::MickeyMo .

5) At which restaurants can I charge the bill to my PP room bill?

6) Can we in fact make use of the Neverland Pool at DH? This seems to be open to some debate.

7) Have the renovations completed at the PP hotel? I just want to make sure I know what I am in for when I get there.

Thanks in advance. I look forward to all your great insight!!!

<font color=navy>Hello diggdug,

1) What are the chances that our room ( Concierge level Upper Floor, Park View) will not be honored? I've seen a lot of posts on other boards that bemoan this unsavory surprise upon check in.

If you have already booked a concierge level room, I would expect that Disney would have you stay at the Disneyland Hotel, rather than downgrade you because of lack of rooms - at least, that's what happened when we (Dreams Unlimited Travel) booked rooms for our clients during the refurbishment. I wouldn't think that that would happen.

2) Best course of action to take if the Desk Staff tries to switch my room to something less than what I am paying for? Obviously I won't throw a ranting fit, but want to know what my options are in case this should happen.

Either tell them to credit you the difference, or have them change you to the Disneyland Hotel for the same cost. The DL Hotel is considered a grade above, though, so the room may not be concierge.

3) Can the Concierge staff make dinner reservations for us at the Blue Bayou so we don't have to race there when the park opens and stand in line? One would hope so.

Most definately. You can also make priority seating arrangements for Blue Bayou by calling 1-714-781-DINE. I recommend asking for waterside tables.

4) Other than the Concierge lounge, drinks, snacks, wine & cheese, etc. What does Concierge Level service have to offer. I just want to make sure I get my fingers into whatever I am paying for.

You can grab bottled water and soda before heading for the parks. That will save you some $ because drinks can run up the bill when you're playing in the parks & want something to drink. Concierge will take care of any priority seating arrangements, find out questions you may have (you may want to ask them when you check in what services you can expect), etc. I believe they also turn down your bed for you at night.

5) At which restaurants can I charge the bill to my PP room bill?

Not too sure - I believe any of the restaurants at the DL hotels, and at the parks (I'll have to look into that).

6) Can we in fact make use of the Neverland Pool at DH? This seems to be open to some debate.

Well, right now you can. However, by the time you arrive, the Paradise Pier Hotel pool will have been finished, slide & all, and I don't think you'll be able to pool hop anymore.

7) Have the renovations completed at the PP hotel? I just want to make sure I know what I am in for when I get there.

I believe all the rooms have been renovated, and the whole hotel should be finished by the end of May. We were there two weeks ago, and I got a pic of the pool - they're still assembling the slide. I'm interested to see what it looks like when they're done.

I have some pics of the Paradise Pier Hotel, and the view from the Upper Resort Level rooms. I'll upload them and post them. I also have a pic or two of concierge lounge.

Thanks for the quick response! I am looking forward to seeing your posted pics of PP. I can't tell you how excited my wife is. My daughte ( 2 years) has no clue obviously. She loves Mickey Mouse however, so she should be really happy. My son ( 8) is going through a Joe-Cool phase right now, so he's playing off that he's not so excited since we went last summer. I am sure he'll love staying on-site.
