I booked PP concierge AP rate for 8/27-9/3. :cool1: We have never stayed on site though we have been 4x in the last 3 years! (Coming from OR)
Now I am wondering if we should split our stay between GCH (no concierge) for first 2-3 nights and then PP concierge. The rates are better for Friday and Sat night for GCh than for PP concierge. Would we be too spoiled at GCH to want to move? What about the walking and noise from construction? What would you do? I can't justify conmcierge prices at GCH. Also DH rates are similiar. My DD (13) is really excited about concierge at PP. All you can eat junk food! :yay: I would like to try both resorts.

Little background me 45, Dh 45, DD 13, DD 7.5 Love Disneyland!

I would do it, especially if the $$ aspect works out to be a good deal. If you decided to stay at PP Concierge I would highly recommend requesting a "cabana room" which would be located right off the pool are and you get your own private gated patio with a table and chairs.

Oh...and as far as junk food, they do have nice, healthy choices too like fruit and veggies w/dip and beautiful cheese platters....oh wow, I guess I really miss that concierge lounge lol

Anyway, have a great time :goodvibes

Thanks for the quick reply. We are for sure staying PP concierge. Just considering changing the weekend to either DH or
GCH so we can have some variety and experience more than one resort. DH is actually the least expensive of the two. Was curious about the construction noise. We may be back again in Nov. so might go for another resort then.

I would definately do the split stay if money wise it doesn't hurt your budget. I have stayed in PP but never Concierge, the Cabana Room thing sounds cool. At GC I have stayed at both the regular hotel and just returned from the Villas. No construction noise what so ever! Well if the sliding door was open you could hear it as well as the sounds of the park (our room overlooked DCA) but once that door was shut, tight like a vault ;). The Grand is Grand and if you have a chance to stay there I would do it. However either way it will be magical! Have fun! :goodvibes

I would do it, too. Especially since you are staying a whole week.
I loved PP concierge and the cabana pool room. And if you have a special occasion noted on your ressie (like a b-day or anniversary) they will bring a plate of rice krispie Mickey heads with the ears dipped in chocolate to your room the first night. Very nice touch. You will get spoiled with the snacks, beverages and light breakfast. And the CM's in the lounge are top notch. Then at the Grand, the rooms and ambiance will spoil you. And by then your feet will thank you for the shorter walk to the parks and the relaxing lovely lobby with piano music and fireplace.

Have a magical trip. :goodvibes

Just a heads up that changing resorts at DLR is not the same as changing resorts at WDW.

At DLR you must check out of your original hotel and either 1) go with Bell Services and your bags to your new hotel, or 2) take your bags to your new hotel yourself. The hotels will not automatically transfer your luggage to your new DLR hotel. Then check in to your new hotel. If your room isn't ready, bell services at the new hotel will need to store your luggage. Your new room may not be ready until after 4, so you could be without your room all day.

It's not the end of the world, but it's good to know what to expect.

I vote that you stay with your PP reservation. The rooms are bigger and you won't have to deal with packing up again. We really like the concierge lounge and normally request a cabana room. We have also done concierge at the Grand and that is really a treat!

You can't go wrong either way. The proximity of GCH to DL/DCA and the concierge lounge at PPH are both hard to give up once you've experienced it, so make sure your entire party is ok with the split stay to avoid potential disappointment. You will also need to take the time and haul the luggage between the hotel, and deal with the checkin/checkout time strategically. The rooms in PPH are typically larger than GCH, so I would do GCH --> PPH, but wouldn't go the other way around.

Thanks for all of the advice! My kids voted for staying concierge PP the whole time, Dh would like to check out the other hotels but is not a big fan of changing rooms midway. I would save about $160 by doing DLH no concierge)the first 2 nights and then PP. Not that money is everything. I am a couponer/value girl though and must look at all the angles! LOL
