DH and I have discussed this many times

We would each get $10mil to do with whatever we want. Each of our parents and siblings would get $1mil. Our neices and nephews (as well as my god daughters and my other best friends kids) would each get trusts set up for $100K each. Our church would get $1mil as well as a few other specific charities. The rest we would build a home (or two) and set up trusts for both of our kids. BTW, we would each get a generous allowance from the interest realized every year.

With my $10mil I would:
Buy my mom her red convertible
Throw a huge party for my entire office (with some fantastic gifts :teeth: )
Give a few friends and close relatives $50,000 each
Hire a full-time therapist for my son
Hire a personal trainer and chef to help me get my butt in shape
Buy myself a new vehicle with all the bells and whistles that I want
Give 5 lucky DISers and their families an all expense paid trip to the World ::MickeyMo

and then just enjoy life being able to spend more time with my family and see the world and World:flower:

OK, I'll go.

I would put together a nice motorcycle race team and join the AMA superbike ranks running HRC kitted Honda CBR 1000RR's. The rest of the time I would be following the Montreal Canadiens to every game they played throughout the season.

Definitely my DH would quit work. We would give to grandparents, parents, brothers and sisters. We also would have one big party at DL, WDW, TDL, HKDL, and DLP. The party would continue on the Magic and Wonder. We would donate to church, and find some charities which do don't get as much funds as others due to lack of PR. We would also put money away for our children's education. This is just a start.

I thought you only got the full amount if you took the annuity payments? If taking a cash pay out, it would be half. I realize they don't take all the taxes out before paying you off either. IMO, that's because they expect you to give to charity and family/friends. I'd imagine you'd be looking at no less than a 50% tax bracket. So, 290 million would only yield about 72.5 million. Still, nothing to sneeze at!

I'd probably die of a heart attack, so it would be up to my family to decide what to do with it. :rotfl:

Actually, the 1st 10% would go to charity and probably more at a later time. I'd set college funds up for the kids, and set them up with a nice trust. I certainly wouldn't pay the tax on it this year, then turn around and have them pay inheritance tax at a later time, so the bulk of the money would go into their names. We would build our dream house and give some to family/friends. Then we'd simply enjoy life.

Pay for my kids college education (I have a HS senior right now so it would come in handy!)
Buy a different house.
Give some to my friends and family.
Invest
let DH retire!!

What I would do.

After paying about 50% To the Government

Buy a New House in The Same School District $ 1,500,000

Re Do house, Furniture, Electronics $ 1,000,000

Buy Two Hummers Fully Loaded $ 150,000

Buy Ferrari $ 250,000.

Buy Assorted Other Cars $ 500,000

Party at Universal Studios Florida $ 200,000

Family Gifts $ 25,000,000.

Trust Fund For Kids $ 30,000,000.

Charatable Foundation $ 20,000,000

Mad Money $ 65,000,000

1. Pay off my student loans
2. Buy myself a house
3. Invest a good portion of it
4. Live life. :sunny:

You guys lose so much in taking a lump sum payout. We don't lose any and it comes as one payment and they can't tax the payment. They will tax the interest after the first year so you just make sure you have the interest go directly to a tax sheltered invesment account be it an RRSP or mutual funds etc.

I miss Powerball! The lotteries in Florida never get high like Powerball.

In answer to the OP's question. If I were to win Powerball, a lot of people visiting WDW would find neat surprises upon their arrival!

1. Pay off the house & DH's truck (that's all we owe).

2. Tell my boss, "See ya!"

3. Set mine and DH's parents up with a trust so they can retire and live in complete comfort for the rest of their lives. Give our siblings $1 million each.

4. Donate some to different charities.

5. Buy myself a new car.

6. Buy DH and I a toy (sport's car).

7. Have the house remodeled or build a new one.

8. Go to Scotland & England for at least a month.

9. Take my friends on a Caribbean or Hawaiian cruise for 14 days.

10. Go to WDW for two weeks at the Grand Floridian's most expensive suite.

11. Put some in a trust for DS.

12. I could go on and on! LOL

I'd buy one of these (1001 horsepower!!) for starters!! Zoom ZOOM Zoom!!

1. Pay off all of our bills and tell the student loan people to go jump in a lake!
2. Give money to my parents, DH's parents, my brother (and family), DH's brother and sister (and their familes), and my great-aunt. That's it! Since I have no contact with anyone else in my extended family, I double-dog dare any of them to come asking me for money. If they do, I will laugh in their faces and have them arrested for trespassing.
3. Travel all over the world in my own private plane.
4. Buy a house near WDW so we can go there any time.
5. Have my dream home built on lots of acreage.
6. Tithe at least 10% (probably more) to our church.
7. Hire a good (and trustworthy) investment specialist and lawyer.

***BUT MOST IMPORTANTLY:***
8. Go to NYC, hunt down Vincent D'Onofrio, and convince him to be my "kept man"!

ps--- I like the motorcoach idea....forget tickets to the Daytona 500...I could get hubby tickets to all the races and we could become NASCAR groupies. :teeth:

That's my dream and my donations to charity ...why they would include Victory Junction Camp (sponsor a cabin), The Jeff Gordon Foundation, Tony Stewart's charity and various other NASCAR related charities ;)

Oh yeah forgot to add would rent a suite at the Daytona 500 and foot the bill for all my DIS NASCAR players to have a DIS MEET!
