Potty training question

DD has been using her potty for about 2 weeks now. She has only had a couple of accidents since the weekend. And so far none today or yesterday.

My question is when did you take your child out in public with no diaper? I am really nervous about doing this. I don't feel like she is ready now so I still put one on her.

Also we have a couple of weddings coming up and are going to be doing a lot of traveling. Should I put diapers on her for all of these things? I don't want her to regress-she is doing so great!

Thanks! :)

I had the same problem when my kids were potty training. Even though they didn't use Pull-ups at home, I had my kids wear them when they were still in the beginning stages when we went to public places.

I wouldn't have your DD wear diapers, though. Good luck!

Two things worked for us when DD (almost 4) was in the early stages of potty training and we were traveling. In fact, we still rely on both of these tricks when traveling.

1) Have DD use the potty or at least try before leaving home. Put her in underpants and then put a pull-up on over them. Explain that she's to let you know when she has to go and that this is just in case she can't hold it.

2) Get a portable potty (if you don't already have one) with a removable container. Line the container with a gallon size ziploc and take it in the car with you. If DD does need to go and you're not near a bathroom (which you're usually not) than you can just stop anywhere and have her use the portable one.

As long as your DD knows when she has to go and it's not just you taking her every hour or so then I'd try a few outings. Those thick training underpants are really absorbent in the event of an accident. Just carry extra clothes with you. Good luck!

:D

CEDmom-I would say 75% of the time she let's me know when she has to go. The rest is me asking her, usually if it has been a while. This is why I don't think she is really ready for outings yet. :) She is really good with the pooping. Just has a little more trouble getting to the potty in time for peeing.

We do have a protable potty and plan on taking it with us. Avery and I are flying in September though so I am more concerned about that. Although there is quite a bit if time between now and September. So I know things will improve. :)

Took dd when she was jsut starting potty training(2 1/2) to WDW. I was very nervous about not getting to the potty in time. I put her in Pull-Ups for the trip. She wasn't very happy about them and I didn't want her to regress so we called them "travel pants". I did not tell her they were in case she couldn't hold it. I would offer her the bathroom every hour and tell her the pull-ups are for special occasions when going out somewhere.
