I'm currently in the middle of potty training my youngest DS. He is doing great  , but I'm not fairing as well. Here's my issue, he has a hard time stepping up on stools or stairs (he is a little bit phyiscally delayed). This means that I have had to lift him onto the toilet (he is not tall enough to stand and do his thing) , off the toilet, up to the sink to wash his hands, and back down to the floor. He is not a little boy and my back is hurting tonight. Has anyone had any experience with this, have you come across anything that would make it easier for him to reach the toliet and easier for my back? I know this is really a dumb question, please feel free to laugh at me  .

I am assume he is too big for a small potty chair thing?

Yep, too big for a potty chair. Really if you wanted to get exact, his booty is too big for a potty chair- I know that's exactly what you wanted to learn about my family :) .

Well I didn't mean it that way...And since he can't get up on a stool he can't lift one cheek up and get on. My daughter did that for a long time. Sorry I can't help more. Practice makes perfect.

Oh No, please dont think that I was offended or anything and I hope I didnt offend you- I didnt mean for it to come across that way. I appreciate your reply, thank you.

My daughter sorta has that problem too. She can climb onto the toilet with a stool but can't get down so I have to take her down every time. She has a 2 step stool that she uses for the sink to wash her hands, and she can climb down from that, but climbing down from the potty throws her cause her pants/underpants are down so she can't move her legs well and if she tries to pull them up on the stool then she most likely tips over and falls onto the floor. I figure I just have to wait till she grows a bit and in the meantime just keep holding her.

ETA: My daughter is tiny, 26 pounds, but I'm pregnant so I totally understand what you mean about how hard it is to keep lifting them. Even though she can get to the sink in her bathroom, there is no stool in mine and of course she always has to potty when she's in my room.

I had to giggle at the thread title. I'm thinking get the plunger, odor masks, decontamination suit. ;)

There is a catalog called One Step Ahead that has all different kinds of early childhood items. Maybe they have something that can help. Try www.onestepahead.com. I just looked and they have a contoured cushie seat step -up potty, and they have travel potties which appear to be wider.

Hope this helps. If I think of any other sites I'll let you know.

The step potty is exactly what I was looking for- perfect. Thank you, so much.
As for the plunger, odor mask etc- those things are needed for my darling 4 year old DS and his "darling" Dad :rotfl: .

I'm so glad that there was something that can help. I get a catalog from them every so often, and they have a lot of "solution" type products. They also have "parent" products, items which parents came up with that companies overlook or just don't make with just the right touch.

Good luck with the potty training. I have two little boys, also in potty training. And it's quite a time we have together. ;)

Hee! We have a daddy like that too. ;)
