My girls (27 months old) are in the process of being potty trained. Some days they are great, other times they are not.
I figure we will be doing either pull-up or diaper while in disney. But any other tricks. I know they will ask to use the potty. I kind of slowed down with the potty since I don't want them to have to go while on lines.

i'm having the same nightmare myself. my 3 year old is getting really good with the day time pee training...nowhere near poo trained yet.
he will occasionally have 'accidents' if we are away from home or somewhere that he is not familiar with.

i know we will be using pull ups at the park so i hope that doesn't set us back at all.

The big tip I have read here is to use post it notes over the toilet sensors to keep them from flushing and then of course, pull them off right before you exit the stall. This will prevent it from flushing until you're ready for it!

Also, the baby care centers have small toilets for the wee ones to use. If you happen to be close to the BCC then it might be worth ducking in there to let them use it. It's also a nice quiet place for the family to take a short break and get a sip of water from the water cooler. :-)

What I tried to still give them that ICKY feeling but prevent a mess on the ride-mobiles was this:

I had them wear underwear but put a Pull Up on over it. That way they if they had an accident, the Pull Up would help absorb the mess and the underwear would still give that uncomfortable feeling you get when you wet your pants. We had a problem with our boys about holding it until they got a Pull Up on and then relieving themselves, instead of going to the potty. It seemed the Pull Ups just reinforced that it was okay to go in your pants versus encouraging going on the potty. I am sure there are others with the exact oppposite reaction but that was our ordeal. Our sons Occupational Therapist told us that trick to help!

Of course if they are going to be walking a bit I may suggest getting them in the habit of going often, and before leaving the house, instead of the Pull Up trick cause that could get them chaffing! This will help train them to go before going on the rides etc. They are at the age where they are still learning to listen to their bodies so getting down in your schedule when they normally "go" is also a good technique to determine when they are must likely to void. Kids can always surprise us though so use your gut Mom! If they have had a bunch of juice, water etc. 10-15 minutes later try the potty! Found this to be too true on many occassion!

If you are driving, we took a small potty and I always kept a large bottle of water handy. So if we were a long way from a Rest Stop (hate them but necessary sometimes!) or a McDonald's etc. We could pull over and let him go and I could at least rinse it out and wipe it off with a wet one. It saved us a couple of times during our travels!

Best of luck and Have a Great Trip!:wizard:

My oldest son was trained for 4 months when we went to Disney. I brought pullups for him so I didn't ave to worry about any accidents. He did really well until we were waiting for a parade. We had our spot for around a half hour, DH was getting food, and DS needed to go.:scared: I told him to go in his pullup so we didn't loose our place for the parade!! :confused3 Well, when we got back he did have a few accidents, but he quickly caught on again. When we went with the twins, they were just trained, and they loved using just about every bathroom in the parks. We never stopped so many times. But they stayed dry both day and night. Good luck

Our son had been trained for maybe a month when we went. We had him wear pull-ups to the parks. He did great and only once did he go in his pull-up. He would ask to go to the bathroom and almost always made it.

We did use the baby centers while we were there. We also had an 18 month old with us, but I don't see why older children couldn't use the facilities, too.

My son was training when we took him for his 3rd birthday. We used pull ups so we wonldn't have messes but he did great. We kept telling him before we went that he would be able to use Mickey Mouse's toielt and bathroom. He was so excited. When he got there he wanted to use every bathroom. We didn't have one accident the whole trip and we came home with a potty trained child.:)

Our 2 1/2 year old had been trained for around 4-6 months prior to going but we still took pullups to help relieve some of the stress. We asked him at every stop if he had to potty and we made him try to poop everytime we went to a bathroom. With 7 of us someone was always going....so he probably had the chance to potty 15 or so times a day in the park LOL He had no accidents during the whole trip...YAY!

we have a little travel potty that we use when we go out, it works well for us and that way we don't have to lose the training process - just find somewhere secluded and out of the way for them to go.
