2 Pottery Barn related questions....for anyone who has been to their outlet stores. Do they usually have a good selection of large area rugs? Are the prices good? I need an 8x10 or 9x12 and don't want to pay the catalog prices. It's a long drive for me to make the trip and I don't want to waste my time if they won't have the large rugs.

And since we're on the PB subject, has anyone come across any discount codes?

I have been to the Lancaster Pottery Barn Outlet 2 times in the past week and did so well!!! But, I bought two minivan loads of childrens furniture. I was able to purchase 2 whole bedroom sets which included 2 full beds, 2 nightstands, an armoire, 3 dressers and a bookcase for over a dresser for $2300 which I thought was a GREAT price. Most of the items wound up being 2/3 off list price. They are having a special right now (at least in Lancaster), an extra 20% off rugs and furniture. This sale ends today. You may want to call them first. They did have alot of area rugs here. The only one that I looked at was the smaller surfboard one which was $49.99 and then 20% off. Where is the PB Outlet that you would go to? Good Luck!

I have boughter several new Pottery Barn Kids Wool rugs off Ebay, so I am pretty sure that the folks selling got them from an Outlet Store.

At one point there were tons of one of the rugs selling on Ebay. There were words going around the edges of the rugs, can't remember exactly what it said, but one of the words was misspelled.

Wish we had an outlet near where I live!

The one on Long Island usually has a lot of rugs. My sister was able to buy a small one like 3x5 small for $20.

I've gotten so many great things at that outlet. I would say its worth the trip

only pottery barn codes discounts I've ever seen are as follows: (copied from a previous thread I posted on)

Employee - which is very good

Moving discount 10% - I think people get this when they already receive catalogs and they change their address after a move. Not really sure how long it takes to receive. I've only processed them. Never actually used myself.

Gift Registry Completion 10% - This does not have to be a baby registry. We do them all the time for birthdays, christmas etc...You just set up a registry, set the completion date at least 24 hours from the time you register and then when you are ready to "complete" your registry let the sales person know you are doing a completion and you will receive 10% off your purchase.

Friends and Family discount 20% - We do these a couple times a year. Your best way to receive them (if you don't have friend or family employee) is to give your email address at the checkout for in store promotions. (not registering online but giving email at checkout in the store) Unfortunately we just had one a couple weeks ago so there won't be another until after the new year.

I'd love to know where there is a Pottery Barn in the New England area. Since OP is from Connecticut, I'm assuming there must be on in this area??

In my experience, it is kind of hit or miss. We go to the one between Cincy and Columbus Ohio and in 2004 we actually found the exact rug we were looking for-- the 8 x 10 border rug in lichen. It was over 50% off-- $249. I think a lot of their returns are sent to the outlets.

Check Ebay too. I bought my daughter's rug from someone who purchased it at an outlet. I saved $100 (not including shipping).

The green rug had a teeny, tiny hole in the backing of the rug (you can't see it from the front) and my DD's rug was perfect!

And yes-- the employee discount is GREAT! When I worked for Williams Sonoma I got 20% off the outlet prices (unless they were marked .49) and 40% off of anything except electronics (those were 20% off! ) No one ever wanted to quit that retail job!

good luck!

In the Woodbury Commons outlets in Central Valley, NY they sell Pottery Barn merchandise in the Williams Sonoma store. Mostly linens and small rugs, no furniture. You can always call first to see what they have. I haven't been there in a year, but it was nice then.

Good luck!

The Williams Sonoma outlet at the Wrentham MA outlet mall also has some PB items. I've never seen furniture but I don't go very often.

UGH! I did the 2 hour drive to get there yesterday(lancaster) only to find the stuff so picked over(my fault for waiting for the last day of the sale!) The staff was so rude (except for one) I was told let me check twice by different employees never to see them again when I asked a question- like what is this it doesn't have a tag? Does that mean it is sold? ......waiting .....waiting.... nothing. So after an hour of searching through the mismatched pieces, finally I gave up. They just didn't have what I needed. I had things in my cart- but I did the smart money thing and they were not things that I NEEDED just things that were cheap- so I put them back and drove home..a big empty minivan.
Oh and I did call first to see if they had what I was looking for and they said they had several of what I wanted...then when I got there- nothing. I asked about that too and based on the employees I saw I bet nobody even checked. Pity party over here....

Java,
I'm sorry it did not work out for you in Lancaster. After my sister-in-law saw everything I bought and the prices I paid, she drove 2 1/2 hours on Saturday and came home with nothing. She said everyone must have taken all of the good items. It's funny how I came home with 2 minivans absolutely full and she didn't purchase anything. Maybe it is better to go during the week rather than a weekend.

Jen It was my own fault for not going earlier in the week. My dd has the Thomas bed set in white and I was looking for a white dresser- no luck but they did have a great thomas wood dresser- but wouldn't work in her room. I almost bought the red stuff for my little guys but they didn't have all the pieces. I really went there looking for the organizational cubbies- they said they had both the Cameron and Madison lines in stock- With several of each. All that was left when I got there was a single cube. (not enough to fit a playroom worth of toys.) But I am glad you told me about it. We do go to Dutch Wonderland once a year - so now I can hit that outlet when we go! I didn't even know about it. Are you in NJ? or PA?

Java, we are in NJ. It's funny, I have a sister-in-law close to Lancaster which we never go see since it is too far, but I was able to get to this Pottery Barn Outlet twice in one week since the deals were so good.

:rotfl2:
maybe she should sell something at a good price and you might stop by. Don't feel bad my SIL lives by the Harriman outlets in NY and we don't tell her when we head there for a shopping trip-about 2 hours north for us. Sometimes a girl just has to shop. (we are NJ too!)
