And it's actually down right now.

The more I played with it this morning, it does seem a little ploddy. I think once I've gone through the books, it's probably not going to be the "go to" place I'd hoped. Still haven't made it to the sorting, etc., though, so my opinion will change, I'm sure.

It's been up and down all day. It appeared when I got the chance to look, that there were close to 10,000 already signed up. Since the sign-ups are expected to be in the millions, I hope today's "outages" aren't server related, or else they're in for a big surprise!

Well, I'm sorted -- Slytherin. Slytherin??? Sheesh. Total paradigm shift for me. I'll have to adjust to my new path to greatness.

Why do you think it stinks? If they'd implied that before or during the registration process that that access would be determined by registration date I could see being frustrated, but I don't think they did.

Mostly just because of the build up that they had regarding it all. A lot of people were under the impression if would be first come, first served. So, while I understand 100% the randomness, I can also understand people being upset.

Though I will also be the first to say, it was simply an assumption that people thought you would be in first if you did day 1. Nothing ever said that. However, I think it gained a life of its own.

Also, though no one has done it yet, lets remember that when we registered we did sign a TOS that states no screenshots or information is supposed to be discussed on open forums (normal nondisclosure agreement with a Beta).

Remembering it is "beta" is also important because I've seen people on other message boards complaining about "this not working," or, "I'm stuck and it won't let me move forward."

When this happens, instead of complaining on a message board, we need to click on the "beta feedback" logo and submit a ticket for it. I think some people around the nets are under the impression this is the start of the actual experience, and not for testing.

Yea. I keep trying to remind people other places that this is Beta... not just early access. The reason they are giving us access is to be sure things work and the servers can handle the estimated loads before it becomes a public site.

When you get to the chapter where the kids are sorted in the book, you'll be given a number of questions to answer (similar to what you have to answer to get your wand). The questions are impossible to predict regarding what answer will put you into any given house. All you can do is answer them honestly and see where you end up. I got Gryffindor, thank God, cuz I have a giant Gryffindor tattoo on my shin. I told my daughter it was a good thing I got Gryffindor...otherwise I'd have to have the thing removed!

They have been sending out the "welcome email" (email 3) for a week and a half now.
