My boys(including my dh) live for all things Potter books and movies. How much time should I plan for them to explore every nook and cranny, play with their wands, do some major shopping, ride all the rides a few times and eat in both LC and 3 broomsticks at least twice each? THNX

How many days are you going to Universal/IOA?
You should definitely spend a few hours in each land each day. A multi-day trip is essential. Go both morning and night, so diffferent in the dark from the light.
Do take time to do other attractions as well.

My strategy would be to go for as long as you can within your budget. Start each day in one of the HP lands, do whatever you want there, and when it gets busy, do other things in the park. Then, return to one of the HP lands in the early evening until park closing. This gets you in those areas when the crowds are lightest. You can really do a lot in even a single day, but if you want to take in every detail, I would try to spread it out.

We have the time and tickets to spend 8 days there

With a 8 day visit you will have plenty of time to see and do everything !

Enjoy and come back to share your pictures with us
Yes I will. I'm thinking about spending 7 days in the parks and one day for resting up. I plan on writing a TR when i get back lots of pics. 16 Disney days included, I'm going to need a vacation from my vacation

Then definitely stay for the 8 days.......

I k ow you said it's all about Potter but take plenty of time to enjoy the rest that both parks offer......there is so much more to Universal Orlando than Potter........although both Potter areas are excellent.

That'll give you plenty of time for parks and some resort time too.........

Look forward to reading about it when you return.......:thumbsup2

Thank you we're not staying on property. SOG for 3 nights for Disney EMH and then a condo for 21 nights

If you think you may go for more than 4 days, then you could get an AP. Then you could go as much as you would like, and maybe go back again before the APs expire. With an AP, you could go for partial days also. Sleep in then go to parks, or go early then when it gets too crowded go back to condo for pool time, or go in afternoon then stay late at CW.
Boy do I envy you...24 days!

We went last year for the first time with the intent to do 3 days, we had the buy 2 days get a day free deal. By the end of the 2nd day we upgraded our passes to AP's because we wanted more! Plus we had a little one who can only be in the heat so long due to meds, so we took mandatory mid day breaks and went back in the evening. It worked great, we did HP early morning and late night, plus was able to do the other must do's for us early as well like DM. With 8 days you should be able to see and do all you would like! Have a great trip!

Check out Orlando informer website. They have an all things Harry Potter tour plan you can follow so you don't miss a thing in the Potter areas. They have tips and things to look for that may be overlooked. One of the plans retraces Harry's footsteps chronologically.

My dh and already have the APs in our safety deposit. My boys have 3 park unlimited as they are part fish LOL and they won't be going on our 2017 trip. My dh and i will have a meal or 2 without them while they play in the water.

Thank you both

We've been able to do the Potterlands thoroughly (but not eating in each place twice) in two 3/4 days. Rope drop to about late afternoon gets you through everything at least once in a land, and then the Express. We do the reverse on the second day.

I picked 3 days (full days, not partial) and think that if you were to do nothing else (as nothing else there interests us, we are not huge simride fans if we don't like the theme, hate big rollercoasters, etc) 3 days would give you lots of time to explore every nook and cranny.
